Solitude Aeturnus - Hour of Despair (DVD, 2007)

This DVD is log overdue and will be a classic for eternity. This premeir power metal/Epic Doom band from Texas is one of the unsung heroes of the metal world. The fact that they are going strong for 20 years shows their dedication to the music they love. Flimed in Poland with excellent quality this shows the band at their pinacle. Added features include late 80s footage pre-Rob Lowe on vocals. That alone make this a worthwhile investment to see the band in its infancy. The Solitude boys rarely tour outside their own region of Texas mainly due to the lack of support of their brand of Doom metal ( well all Doom metal in general). Doom metal is not meant for the masses, but anyone that ever like Black Sabbath,Witchfinder General, trouble, Pentagram, the Obsessed, Saint Vitus should also be familiar with these texas legends. So I ahve never seen the band perform in the flesh so this DVD will have to wet my appettite.
The songs fo the concert cover all the phases of their stellar albums from the earliest output ultra classic epic DOom- In the Depths of Sorrow- through the most recent album Alone. Highlight of the selection is the awesome 9th Day of Reckoning track.
A must have for any serious metal fan.
