This book progresses well starting with easier projects and moving on to more advanced ones. They are all still reasonably basic projects, but they do give you a good understanding of how Solar Power works while having fun.

Overall a very positive read with much to be learned from this book.

I love the Tab books now known as the Evil Genius series. These books are easy to read and fun to work with. This book starts by introducing the reader to solar energy and simple solar projects. Continues with an introduction to solar heating and cooling, cooking and making your own solar collectors. Many photos, diagrams and ideas for projects any one can try around their homes. What I like the most is the many simple and fun projects that can be created around the house and they include pictures, illustrations, diagrams and tools needed for the job. Then it gets to what I enjoy the most and that's the photovoltaic and solar cells. I love the many electronic circuits for building solar power electronic gadgets projects. Solar driven robots like the mars rover, solar airplanes, electronic schematics for building simple solar power robots and much more. Yes is a simple to read book but that's the beauty of the Tab books/Evil Genius books. Yes you can spend hours looking through the internet coping 100s of pages and getting scientific reports, or buy more technical and advance books. But this is a simple to understand book where you can spend many hours with lots of fun projects to build.

  Not exactly stellar

Most of the Evil Genius series follows a standard format. Very simple (or simple-minded in most cases) projects gradually lead up to more complicated projects. This book is mostly simple projects and not particularly invented. The plans for just about anything in this book could be located with an Internet search that would cost you nothing. This book may have its merits but it is just so basic I can't recommend it for anyone already has some savvy in the solar energy area. As an experimental volume for the novice, it could prove useful however, but there are already a few books out there that go over basic concepts. I had expected rather more than this book delivers. Maybe there will be a revision in the future with more advanced projects. One can hope.
