I bought this book at a homeschool book show and it is great!!! Lisa Whelchel has been homeschooling a long time and has some great insight & humor added into her book.

Her book allows you to look at many different homeschooling families and learn why & how they homeschool.

This will give you some great insight into homeschooling so if you are considering homeschool then this is a must read book. Even if you have already been schooling at home this is a great book to read!!

Thank you for reading this review.

My husband and I are just looking at the possibility of home schooling our son. This book is great!!!
It allows you to look at 15 different families. You learn why and how they home school.
My husband and I know have a much better preception of homeschooling. We are excited about going on to the next level.
Great book!!! I am passing it to friends!!! I could read it over and probably will should we choose to homeschool.

This book was a wonderful resource for anyone who is considering homeschooling their child, but uneasy with the unknown responsibilities associated with such an enourmous undertaking. Easy read and very informative. Lisa Whelchel is an effective and entertaining writer. I was not comfortable at all with the idea of homeschooling my children but had been prayerfully considering it when I ordered this book. It felt as though a huge burden had been lifted and I believe now that I am able to manage a home AND being my children's primary educator. I would most definitely recommend this for anyone even slightly interested in homeschooling just to get a glimpse into the everyday routine of those who have already ventured where I was scared to go!

Excellent description of homeschooling! Great resource!
Review created: 07/04/09

This book is made up of 15 stories of different types of families who home school their children. There are stories of every type of home schooler you can think of: single moms, dads, military, moms with chronic fatique syndrome, families who live in an RV, families whose kids are having trouble in school, and kids who aren't. Lisa Whelchel ("Blaire" from the TV show "Facts of Life") shares these stories because she acknowledges that homeschooling isn't right for everyone.

I have been researching home schooling for several months, and this is my #1 recommendation for anyone who wants to know more. I have also given it to my family members who don't understand my decision to home school.

Because it is written in story form, it is very easy & quick to read.

This was a very personal, encouraging book. I loved the many examples from people in various different situations that shared their points of view! Lisa is an excellent writer & I love reading anything she has put out. You feel like you are right there with her. She is so down to earth & lovable!
If you are uncertain about homeschooling, get this book. You will be able to relate with someone in it and be able to see different perspectives.
Highly recommend this book! We had already determined to homeschool, but reading the different perspectives & situations from which people are coming, really just made it a more certain decision! Thank you Lisa!
