There are many young kids that really like skiing and snow boarding, but many of the games made like this are way to hard for the younger age groups. Not this one. This is a great game for kids and is even one that is fun enough for older games. The grafics are very good and so is the controlling. You can pick this game up and have fun right away and that is one of the big reasons I like this game. I definitely recommend this game and its sequel.

This game is relatively easy to master in single player mode, but the real enjoyment comes from multiplayer stages. Players collect coins to buy items on the various stages that allow them to attack (i.e. push over, not bloody/gory) his or her opponent during the race.

I grew up playing this game, and I still find it to be loads of fun. There's a lot to do with a bunch of great levels, snowboards, and characters. For those looking to purchase this game, you WILL NOT BE SORRY. I guarantee it!

Snowboarding at its best...not just for kids!

If you like racing games and would enjoy a little more than just sticking to the track the whole time, this game might be for you. Snowboard kids has all the elements of a traditional racing game - several tracks, different characters and boards to choose from - but instead of just competing against other players by speed and technique alone, you are able to pick up items along the course of each race and use them to slow down your opponent.
There are two different kinds of items you can aquire during the races. You can ride into a blue box and use items like the ghost, which slows down whoever is in first place; rocks, that trip people behind you; a fan, which makes you go faster than your opponent for a period of time; and my personal favorite, some kind of large flat splatter thing that flattens your opponent for a few seconds while you are able to whiz on by; among others.
If you ride into a pink box you can pick up different shooting devices. You shoot these at your opponent in front of you to slow them down. My favorite is the parachute shot, which hits your opponent and sends them into the air for awhile until they fall to the ground with the parachute. Others freeze your opponent, blow them up into a fireball, make them do a tumble, and there is even one that turns your opponent into a snowman for a period of time, denying them ability to control themselves and making them smash into walls or go off course.
All of the courses are cute and fantastic and so are the characters. Each course has its own music and each character has its own expressions that it says throughout the race. If you hit something or somebody or do a trick each character has its own things it says.
All the courses have jumps where you can do tricks to earn points. These points, along with the coins you can pick up during a race, allow you to "purchase" the items mentioned above and whatever is left you get to take with you to buy new models of boards. Each character does their own tricks by doing a combination of joystick moves while holding down the A button. You also get a certain amount of coin at the finish of a race for whatever place you get. First, second and third place all get cash prizes, but fourth place doesn't get any prizes and if you get fourth place you aren't allowed to keep any of your money you earned during the race.
Besides the races there are also trick games you can play, shot games, and speed games. For those who are crazy about racing, there are also timed races available where you can perfect your abilities and try to race for the best time.
This is one of my favorite games to play for its all around satisfaction. It is hard to get tired of playing it, unlike several other games. I highly recommend it and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

The game is fun and exciting. But you need a memory card to save your progress. The game is fun for everyone no matter how old. I recommend this game.

I realized, that this game doesn't have a whole lot to offer you, and actually uses the memory card, which kinda sucks if you haven't used one in a long time and it's all dusty. Simple game though.

My three children love this game-their ages are 6, 6 and 8 and they are all girls. We can all play against each other (we have 4 controllers) and they repeatedly beat me everytime. Choose your character, level and course. They love it and want me to find Snowboard Kids 2!

  I love this game!

I love this game so much, and usually I'm not one for sports or racing games. I don't even like Mario kart very much. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's nostalgia talking, but this game is simply magical. It has great, fun courses and music that fits well with them. The characters are fun, the boards are nice. It's just a very good game, altogether.

The game has plenty of replay value. You get rewarded for every first place you get on a course and eventually can unlock new boards and courses. Also, every character and board combination is a different experience. For instance, putting Tommy, the fastest and hardest character to control, on the fastest board that's also difficult to control...that's a very different experience than putting Nancy, the slowest but easiest character to control on the fastest board. There's also a board you can unlock later in the game that is labeled as "useless" but it's very entertaining to try and master the controls on that board.

I definitely recommend this to everyone!

Really fun game more or less a racing game with a very original snowboarding twist. Unlike any other snowboarding game on this system much more cartoon and childish fun oriented. Able to shoot powerups at other boarders and also do easy tricks. Maps are very cartoonish and fun but an awesome game for a gamer of any age. Definitely essential to a collection and a very fun multiplayer.

Snowboard Kids is a Great Game
Review created: 01/31/09

The game is challenging, but you can learn to play after trial and error. Once you learn to play, it still maintains the challenge because each course gets harder and harder. It's great to play with friends. The only thing I dislike about it is like in many games, it splits the screen for each player, but if you have a small TV and it splits it into 4 sections (four players) it's annoying to say the least. Overall, 5 stars

  SnowMan Fight
Review created: 05/11/01
by: Dbbum-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Games

Pros:
Child Friendly, Easy Controls, Fun To Play, Cartoonish Look For Fun

Cons:
Ski Lift Exits, Some Unrealistic Levels

When one thinks of a snow boarding game, the Winter Olympics in Nango, or The X Games usually comes to mind. One game that turns to tables is Snowboard Kids. It gives you the basic satisfaction of a snow boarding with a pinch of comedy. Snowboard Kids is definitely a good choice for your young ones! Characters In Snowboard Kids, you'll find that the choices for characters are far from normal. Since this game is targeted more for children, the characters have a cartoonish look to them. There are several choices to make, both male and female. As you can see from the box shot, the snow boarder...

  Fun times, cool rides
Review created: 11/07/00
by: dirtbikekid -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Really fun to play

Cons:
unrealistic

This game is a great game. Some of the things that I do not like are the fact that they have a few levels that are unrealistic. If you're looking for a realistic game of real snowboarding this probably is not your game. Personally, I like both realistic and non-realistic. This game has super cool tricks. I like the sounds. The one player mode rules you have time trials and all sorts of things. I really like the part where you take the chair lift up for more laps. By the way, you can adjust laps on races. I usually go for four just because it is not too much so it gets boring, but its not...

  Snow COOL!!
Review created: 03/06/00
by: ned1 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
easy to control, fun, exciting

Cons:
some parts are hard, but that encourages thinking and effort

Three of my four kids love this game and some day when the price is right we will add it to our video game collection. I rented this and they were crying and whining when I had to take it back. It was so good on so many levels. First off you can play with 1 to 4 players. That's good for me when you have three kids who want to play. They all seemed to enjoy playing alone, but really got into the competition aspect. It was also easy enough that all three of them could play and enjoy it - they are 4, 6, and 11. They all picked it up quickly and had no trouble getting the kids to ride the boards..

Whoa, This Game Doesn't Suck After All!!!
Review created: 02/17/00
by: hochhea -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
I thought this game would suck but this game's great!

Cons:
CHEASY

When I first saw this game in Blockbuster, I thought it would really suck. It looked really cheasy! But since I like snowboarding, and it was the only game I didn't play yet, I rented it. It was a great decision! This game is actually really good! It's a lot of fun! It's very unrealistic, but the characters are funny, and the tricks are cool. There are a lot of stages, each including grind rails, ramps, jumps, and more. There are also various modes you can play in this game, including trick attack, time mode, and vs. mode. Everyone should play this game at least once! I recommend it!

  You can't snowboard on grass!
Review created: 08/11/00
by: SS4Cloud -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
graphics, multi-player

Cons:
memory card take-up, sound, get boring

I bought this game for more of a variety in my video game library and also because really it's not that bad of a game. It does get boring after a little while though. When you first play you will notice it's not meant to be one of those real life snow board games like the Olimpic ones. This game took a more cartoony approach, which is what makes it a fun game to play. Story Belive it or not this game has a story behind it. That story is the one about the kids who eat dream and whatever snowboarding, but since it isn't that important I'm not going to spend a lot of time on it. It makes sense...
