The Fairest of Them All

Walt Disney's first full length movie was a pioneer film in its day and continues to be one of the most beloved of his films of all time. Eclipsed only by "Gone with the Wind" released only a few months afterward, Snow White was a top grossing film in 1939--and anyone watching back then or today can se why. Walt Disney's take on the clasic fairy tale of the foresaken princess hated by her jealous stepmother for being "the fairest woman of them all" and chased into the woods by her where she meets and charms seven dwarves into letting her stay with them by her sweetness and humility is as alive and fresh today as it was 70 years ago. Watch the breathtakingly beautiful animation, its scenery, characters and motions, painstakingly hand drawn and painted and give it a certain enchantment that can capture the adult eyes with its aesthetic appeal as well as those of children. Each character, each detail, each aspect of the faces, the scenes, the animals and the fauna created with so much love and attention can not only compete with, but in the opinon of many can far out do, the animated feautures of today.
The virtues, faults, and quirky traits of all the characters, especially the dwarves lend it a warm humor and a tenderness that is timeless, as the classic tale itself reaches through Disney's mode of portraying it to capture the audience and carry it away. These are just a few reasons this charming animated wonder can be considered among animated films "the fairest of them all", to be watched, owned and cherished by just about all who see it. A must have for every child and video collector.
