) Kawabata is still the only Japanese author to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. His literary ability and skill are evident in "Snow Country," a short novel about the doomed romance of a geisha and a businessman. If you're looking for a quick read and an action-packed story, this novel will disappoint you a million times over. However, if you like taking your time to really read into the characters and situations offered in a story, and reflect about what you are reading, "Snow Country" will make you go through a wonderful experience. Kawabata does not only offer insightful characters and meaningful situations, he's also able to open a door into the human psyche and this is certainly not something all authors can do. 100% recommended for those passionate about true literature.
