Synopsis Mark Perry, the sole proprietor of the U.K.'s first punk fanzine, Sniffin' Glue, here describes the publication's creation in the hothouse atmosphere of mid-1970s London. When Perry couldn't find a magazine that wrote about the bands he liked--namely the Ramones, the Stooges, and Todd Rundgren--in the spirit of punk he put together his own, typed and stapled together, which for a brief period became the bible for any British punk worth his or her bondage trousers. With Danny Baker, who went on to write for the influential New Musical Express and become a BBC broadcaster, Perry wrote some of the first reviews of the gigs and recordings of seminal bands like the 101ers, the Damned, and the Sex Pistols, and his frequent misspellings and bad grammar only lent his enthusiastic articles an extra air of authenticity. Complete with facsimile reproductions of all 12 issues of the fanzine, SNIFFIN' GLUE is an indispensable record of a unique period in music history.
