Tracks like DOMINION, MORE, TEMPLE OF LOVE, and THIS CORROSION thrust themselves fiercely at the future in an intricate, and some believe, extremely prescient way.

The future of this band, and its music, is still unfolding too. Having been largely relegated in the states to DJ play at dance clubs during the 90's, and esoteric campus radio, SISTERS OF MERCY are definitely a band which falls into the category RIPE FOR REBIRTH, that is: among a new generation of listeners searching for the roots of rock, goth, and just plain old fun to hear and stimulating music. This CD also features special backup vocals by the late great Ofra Haza on many tracks, a treat in itself, and its no wonder that so many danced so well to this groups music, way back when. It is appalling and dreadful that this great Israeli singer is no longer with us, having succumbed to drug related AIDS early in her life, AFTER surviving a plane crash in her homeland. These tracks featuring Ofra Haza on A SLIGHT CASE OF OVERBOMBING feature many of her strongest works, exhibiting her incredible range and power. In no way must her vocal greatness ever be denied.

Another feature of this Sisters Of Mercy music collection A SLIGHT CASE OF OVERBOMBING is the programming of the electronic drum machine affectionately known as DR. AVALANCHE, all courtesy of Mr. Eldritch and his incredibly pervasive, if slightly eccentric talent. The lyrics of the songs by Andrew Eldritch are full of messages and meaning, for those who can perceive them, as well as descriptive nuance par excellence. High meaning gets conveyed shortly, with a minimum of dross: Eldritch is a Poet first, his music simply the vehicle of conveyance.

You have to like/love the "Goth" genre of alternative music to enjoy this "Greatest Hits" compilation of tunes. "Corrosion" is by far the best work on this CD, and was "Sisters" biggest hit during the 80's punk rock era. The rest is just fodder, unfortunately.

Stunning "Best Of" from the best goth band of all time. If you want to show your friends what's so great about the Sisters put this album on. If they have the slightest good taste in music they will be blown away!!! 5 Huge stars.

Its a great collection of sisters of mercy the full versions of this corrosion and temple of love make it worth the buy!

I bought this for my husband because he loved Sisters of Mercy in the 80's. It's one of the best CDs we have. Everyone should own a copy of this!
