Thank you, Dr. Linda!

This is a great book. I was looking for something I could use to help my nieces and nephew get ready for a week outdoors in a rustic campground. These are kids who can't get unplugged usually - they are in the middle of the pop culture storm. This book really caught my attention with how it is written for an older reader audience (from 7 yrs. old and up, I would say). It gives simple recipes the kids can try out with the campfire. It talks about safety. It gives a packing list. It talks about what to expect in the woods. It talks about the different essentials for camping, even giving low-budget replacements for high-priced gear. It gives you campfire songs, pictures of various constellations, and games to play! My nieces really took to it. It gave me an ease from which to discuss camping with them and took some stress out of the preparations. It was our Bible during our camping trip, and we learned so many new ways of camping with it. Thanks to one of the recipes in the book and a how-to for fire cooking, we cooked a big, delicious lunch for all of us when we were low on gas for our stove and left with a lot of miscellaneous ingredients which didn't seem to go together. The tricks we learned helped us never get stuck at a toilet without toilet paper. I was happy to have this book with us on our trip. I highly recommend it - and I only paid $2 for it on half.com
