Album Notes Def Leppard: Phil Collen (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin); Vivian Campbell (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, dulcimer); Rick Savage (vocals, acoustic guitar, synthesized bass, bass); Joe Elliott (vocals, guitar, bass); Rick Allen (drums, percussion). Additional personnel includes: Craig Pruess (conductor, arranger); Gloria Flores (vocals); Gavyn Wright (strings); Pete Woodroffe (piano, keyboards); Av Singh (dohl); Brad Buxer, Bobby Brooks, Hugh Drumm, Ger McDonnell (programming). Recorded in Spain and Fine Bow Lane Studios, Dublin, Ireland. With '80s hard rock all but dead and gone by the mid-'90s, Def Leppard rethought their approach and resurfaced with 1996's SLANG. The indulgences that rocketed Leppard to the top of the charts a decade earlier were stripped away as the veteran band attempted to stay in step with the new alternative rock acts. While SLANG didn't hit the charts as hard as such past classics as PYROMANIA and HYSTERIA, it contained its share of highlights, namely "Work it Out," "All I Want is Everything," and "Blood Runs Cold." The group would revisit their original sound with their next release, 1999's EUPHORIA. Editorial Reviews Entertainment Weekly (05/17/1996) | Find errors in the product description? Reviews Review created: 04/03/08 by: This is not one of the best CD's I have heard. Their stuff later was better. It is a good CD but the best. They have done better. This does help complete my collection. Review ID: 10000000006474450 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 08/09/07 by: This is a great CD. Every Def Leppard fan should have this in their collection. It's not what you'd expect to hear from them, it's certainly different. It's more hard rock than the "Pour some sugar on me" days... you will be impressed. Review ID: 10000000004178160 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 12/09/06 by: dolceavery123 ( 7 ) I usually like all of Def Leppard's music. But this one had a lot more of the heavy metal edge. This is great but in my opinion not typical of what they have put out in the past so I was a little surprised how different it was from their other albums. It has a couple of their ballady songs (more within the better known D.L. style) with well written lyrics, "Breathe A Sigh" being the best on this release. All in all it's Def Leppard so how could it be bad? Review ID: 10000000002502775 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
