Skippyjon Jones by Judith Byron Schachner (2003, Reinforced Hardcover)

Wonderful story. This book is rhythmic and fun to read. If you have ever been owned by a cat, you can see the the typical behavior. Illustrations capture the essence of Skippy as a youngster. Ms Schachner has a goldmine in this character.

I am a collector of children's books, or so it seems by the look of my son's bedroom. I have many favorites and this is my newest favorite to be added on the list! This story provides an animated mom like myself a great opportunity to bring these characters to life! It's inventive, musical, and educational. It enables participation from your child and is so whimsical that it will stay with you well after the book is finished. My 6 yr. old begs me to read this story and no matter how many times we read it, we laugh and laugh! My son will spend the next day trying to sing the little Skippito songs or I will often hear him say, "Holy Guacamole!". Thank you J. Schachner for writing such a delightful, original story. To all of you moms out there, you have to get this book! (The more you read it, the more you'll love it.)
