  A true Classic

I remember being 13 and listening to Skillet for the first time. Until then all I had really explored musically was CCM Pop like dc Talk, Jars of Clay and News Boys. This was indeeds something very new and different for me. I had yet to discover the beauty of hard beats and gritty guitars mixed with energetic and distorted vocals. The blend of dynamics from song to song made each time through this album an adventure of new discovery. Each song challenging my young ears in a new way. I enjoyed the interplay of instruments and the alternation of soft tension building verses to explosive choruses.
Now as a 26 year old music listener I can still put this album on and enjoy it song for song all the way through. That meaning allot when there are hundreds of albums I could potently be listening to.
The only drawback to this impressive soft more effort is the dated style and production. This work amongst a discography of modern hard rock and industrial electronica is a stand alone grunge album free of synths and drum loops.
Skillet's self titeled first album is old but enjoyable; A true classic.

I think this is SKILLET'S first album, and I think it is very good!!!

I think their newer cds like comatose and collide are much better you can tell they have matured as musicians and a band. This Skillet cd is still very, very good! I highly recommend this cd to any Skillet fan.

  a good start only

This first effort is okay. It introduces some melodic feedback and raspy vocals. It is rather soft in comparison to additional releases since. There are no keyboards here and little backing vocals. While the lyrics are sometimes obscure, John Cooper's passion and intentions are obvious. Not every song is a keeper, but each person will probably find one to gravitate towards. I still love 'Gasoline', which preceded 'Locked in a Cage', a strange worship song that came later and is still a fan-favorite. I still don't like 'Saturn' as much as others typically do. This is 'a must' for Skillet fans of course, but not essential for other fans of the genre.

The seller was very concise and quick to send the CD to my son. Even though he lives with my ex-wife and her husband, the seller was willing to accommodate my request to send the CD to their house.

I would be willing to purchase more items from this seller.

this cd is a great one if you're looking for a softer rock. i was anticipating it to be more like their comatose cd, however, in considering the lyrics and what mood i'm in, it fits well into my collection. i am very into alternative/rock christian artists. it's also a great cd to pop in the cd player on a road trip :-)
