The Only Dreamcast RPG You'd Ever Need

If you're looking to buy any Dreamcast games on eBay, Skies of Arcadia should be on that list. While it was ported to the Gamecube, I still prefer this version - my reasoning? Well, this RPG takes advantage of everything that the Dreamcast was able to do. 1) The graphics are gorgeous, as most DC games graphics were, but the ones here really shine. 2) The story is solid and includes many classic RPG moments among some weirder elements (for instance, a cute evolving putty thing which you must feed is one character's weapon). 3) The VMU game is really good and there's a purpose behind having a normal VMU - every time you're near a certain item, the VMU gives a hearty beep while you search the screen for what it is. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to beat a certain boss or find your way to the next storyline portion, but no more than in any Square RPG. Skies of Arcadia isn't just the best RPG I've played for Dreamcast, it's also one of the best RPGs I've ever played!

It has been a long time since I have found a game that really captures my interest as Skies has. It goes to show that the artistry of making a good game has more to do with telling a good story that you can influence than the latest gaming gizmo.

  One of few great RPG's

The Dreamcast had a short life, mainly because it didn't raise enough interest of developers. It did manage however to get Skies of Arcadia. This game surprised really surprised me and I'll explain why.
The storyline is emersive, but unlike most FinalFantasy games its not overlycomplicated and you probably will understand whats going on.
The graphics even today look great, comparable to some early Playstation2 rpgs.
The character's controls are more responsive than most rpgs, this is helped greatly with very good camera controls.
One of the best features of Skies of Arcadia is the extensive use of Air Ships. These floating replicas of 18th centruy sea faring vessels make traveling to the various places in the game much more enjoyable than having to walk down long paths.
Skies of Arcadia lets you fully use the vmu. You can download a mini game and play it seperatly. In it you can find items and gold which can be uploaded back into the game when its pluged back in.

Overall a great game, must buy for Dreamcast owners and a major reason to get a dreamcast in the first place.

This is a fun RPG for the Sega DreamCast. Storyline is different then alot
of Other RPG titles on alot of the Various Video Game Systems.

I have played this RPG before, it had been a while since i played it.
Was in the mood to play it again. My game disc #2 had been damaged
after i had beaten this game before. Needing a complete set of game
disc's to replay this game, I went to Ebay to buy another copy of it.

I am very glad I used Ebay to get another copy of this fun game.
If you want to experience a fun RPG be sure to give this game a try.

This is a must have for any Dreamcast owner that has just got to have an RPG. The story, plot and characters are awesome and the graphics are rated the best for it's time that years later it was ported onto the Gamecube without even changing it. The story is long (it took me over 70 hours to complete)and the characters are well done and unique. If you are a diehard fan of RPG's this is one you should really check out. Go.....explore the Skies Of Arcadia.

Skies of Arcadia Dreamcast, Wii, and Gamecube

You'll pilot the skies as a colorful pirate in this classic RPG. This game is a great example of a game gone right. It's colorful. The game is funny. Great animations run through the whole game. The story keeps you playing. Skies of Arcadia gives you a ton of game play for your money. A real bonus, is that there is almost nothing at all offensive in this game. The violence and humor is cartoonish and non graphic.
You'll play it all the way to the end.
If you like turn based Rpg's, and own a Dreamcast, this is a must have title. It is available on many other systems too.

Hello adventurers. This RPG is so amazing that words cannot begin to describe it's greatness. From the amazing, beautiful lands you explore to the majestic musical score; you owe it to yourself to discover & enjoy this magical epic. The ship to ship aerial battles are so spectacular they have to be seen to be believe. The game's characters are some of the most lovable, memorable and entertaining ever, not to mention the villains; they are in a league of their own! The only con the game has is the frequency of random fights while on your airship. But no worries mate!; as you progress in the game you'll acquired more advanced technology for your airship enabling it to fly above clouds!. And there awaits even more discoveries and gigantic monsters!. An instant classic.

  EXCLLENT RPG!!!

Skies of Arcadia is a very neat RPG for dreamcast. It's graphics are very good as well as the soundtrack.

You play as Vyse the sky pirate, a simple kid who wants to become the best air pirate the world has ever seen. Along his quest he meets very neat and unique characters. The adventure itself is very fun and exciting. The plot is unique and diverse and not recycled hash.

This game is indeed a hidden treasure in the dreamcast line up, and is worth a play through.

  Great Game and Awesome Graphics
Review created: 04/01/09

This game is really fun, it has alot of characters with interesting backgrounds. The concept is fantastic. I also enjoyed a very interesting storyboard. The best part of the game has to do with the graphics. The graphics usually don't make the game but in this case they do. The character models are vivid and fluid, surpassing the gamecube version in some aspects. It is what truly makes the game fun, especially in 640x480 dpi. Any HD-TV monitor capable setup will show the artistic rendering of the Dreamcast at its height, with bumpmapping and without the fake cartoony stylizations the gamecube version brings you. The character models on this version appear more life-like with depth (although its really just a matter of preference.) On top of that, the sound is accurately ported. Do not settle for a hacked version because Echelon released this game with random pauses and glitches. The game itself has a real feel for its environment, a tremendous 3d world to navigate around. You can either find all the secrets or not, once you do it gives you an option of looking for adventures with massive full scale ship battles. Def. worth checking out.

Like the story, like the gameplay, love the concept. Good all the way around. The dated graphics still hold up well due to the style of the game.

  Skies of Arcadia is cool!
Review created: 12/10/07

I really like this game. I owned it before but had to sell it. I love the way the game is set up with the turn system of fighting. I don't like that you have to listen to the store line the whole time with no way to escape.
