Industry Reviews "Bruchac adds believable details, vigorously cranks up the suspense, and pits a deliciously ghastly creature who likes to play with his food against a resourceful young heroine who draws both on courage and cultural tradition to come out on top. A natural for under-the-blanket reading." Kirkus Reviews (08/01/2001)
"Bruchac gives full play to his talent for the creepy, and the introduction of bits of American Indian lore and story...are smoothly and capably integrated....[R]eaders...will relish this fast-paced supernatural chase." Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books - Janice M. Del Negro (09/01/2001)
