  The Mist
Review created: 05/07/08

I am an avid fan of Stephen King and enjoy all of his works. I purchased this title especilly for the short story of The Mist. I have read it previously and with the release of the movie I wanted to read it again. I had read it some years ago and had been looking forward to the release of the movie. I found all of the short stories to be very interesting.

  Review of Skeleton Crew

The item was just as described. The shipping was fast. I will happily do business with supplier again. I looked at Barnes & Nobel for this book. Shipping time was two 2 weeks and the product would would be paperback and not the hardback I wanted. This supplier was by far the most expedient as well as having the exact version of the book that I wanted. It was a first edition in hardback with the dust cover. So all in all, I was exceedingly happy with the entire transaction.

  Had to have the hardback!

I have had the paperback version of this for years - and read it to tatters -so I needed to get a replacement. I was very happy to find a hardback version.

These stories are fabulous! I can't decide if I like this one better or Night Shift, another early King short story collection.

The Mist, the first story, is one of my all time favorites. I also like The Monkey, although is scares me.

If you are a King fan, this is a wonderful read!

I actually don't like most of the stories in this book, but he has one that I think is one of his best. My book fell apart during my last move, and bought this to replace it.

A Book of Short Stories by the King of Horror
Review created: 08/09/06

This is clearly one of King's best short story collections. For those that have a hard time sitting down to a 500 page book this is for you or for those Stephen King collectors or King fans alike, it's a must have/ must read.

Includes the short stories:

The Mist-

In the small town of Bridgton, Maine, things go very bad when a mist sweeps in and brings scary and dangerous creatures. The mist doesn't go away. Neither do the horrors.

Here There Be Tygers-

Don't we all remember the terrors involved in a simple trip to the basement bathroom of your elementary school? This kid remembers vividly. Will he live to tell the tale?

The Monkey-

Hands held apart; cymbals about to clash. Will the toy wind-up monkey get you? Will he drag you into the well? Clang. Clang.

Cain Rose Up-

The terrors of a shoot out on a campus grounds become real, as one student loses all sense of sanity.

Mrs Todd's Shortcut-

A young lady becomes obsessed with finding the shortest ways to get from here to there. When giant never before seen animals and bugs appear on the hood and in the grill, one wonders whether these shortcuts are of this world.

The Jaunt-

Dad tells children a story of the first jaunt in history to help them better prepare and understand the history of travelling through a wrinkle in the universe.

The Wedding Gig-

A wedding becomes a funeral as the mafia and hitmen come in to gain revenge on a mob gone wrong.

Paranoid: A Chant-
A poem. Did I tell you I can't go out any more. There's a man by the door in a raincoat. Smoking a cigarette.

The Raft-

Sheer frightening terror as some young college students dare go swimming on a cold day out to a raft. There is a swirling black mass of oily substance in the water when they arrive. What is it? Will they ever lose the fear enough to try and swim back to their car a mere 500 feet away?

Word Processor of the Gods-

The story of a boy genius who dies leaving a friend a word processor. Anything you type on it happens. Anything goes. But will this end up being a blessing or a curse?

The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands-

If you shake this mans hand you will learn his secret. I wouldn't suggest it.

Beachworld-

Stranded in a world of nothing but sand a space shuttle crew deals with the delusions of a faraway land and a severe lack of water. Doesn't that sand look inviting enough to swim in?

The Reaper's Image-

A looking-glass stored away at a museum becomes the object of curiosity for a collector. What you see in the glass, will scare the Hell out of you. You still got take a little peeksy don't you?

Nona-

Too young people go on a hitchhiking course straight out of a horror movie. I wouldn't suggest picking them up. They will be picking you up later of the pavement.

For Owen-

Another short poem by Stephen King about his real-life son Owen.

Survivor Type-

A man on a deserted island with no resources is forced to resort to eating himself to survive.

Uncle Otto's Truck-

The abandoned truck across the street from Uncle Otto's house is clearly getting closer and closer every day on it's own.

Morning Deliveries (Milkman #1 & #2)-

A milkman goes on a unforeseen rampage.

Gramma-

A kid left alone with his dying gramma tells the tale.

The Ballad of the Flexible Bullet-

A crazed author realizes there are fornits in his house intent on killing him.

The Reach-

Stella becomes lost in a snowstorm on her way to the mainland. Will she find her way again before she di
