Spiritual seekers have used the vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls for centuries, claiming that sound waves balance the body, restore right and left brain function, and heal disease. Though others have followed her lead, Thea Surasu was the first to capture sounds of the bowls on this recording. The singing bowls, which are either struck or rubbed around the rim with a mallet, emit tones that are said to mingle with the body's own natural sound waves and act as an aid in meditation and enlightenment. A highly personal experience, response to the sounds varies from person to person, as they take in the deep, sonorous resonance and higher-pitched, chime-like melodies.
