Do lace work on your straight stitch sewing machine

I have had several copies of this Singer embroidery book, so I had to have one to keep for myself. The paperback edition is just as good as the harder-to-find vintage edition. I like being able to progress from the very foundation in lesson one and going through each lesson, getting more complex each time. I up actually up to Lesson 6 and loving it. I really didn't see how to create lace work with my straight stitch featherweight and my Singer 301, but it is beautiful. The best part is, even my practice stitches look nice and I know with more practice, they will look even better. I was amazed and will continue through the lessons. There wasn't additional thing I needed to have, not even an embroidery foot if I didn't want to use one. Love it and if you can find an edition, either the newer paperback or the hard back vintage, try it. I am just having fun.
