The machine worked well. The software however did not. Trying to get tech support for this model much less from the Singer corp is impossible so don't try. I did find some software patches (by mistake)while I was looking for a replacement machine. And now everything is working well.
It will be my last Singer machine EVER!!!

I have been sewing for over 40 years, and this is the quietest machine I have ever had. It makes lovely designs, and I used it to put initials on towels for presents, and designs on my dog's Christmas stockings. I love it.

  Great sewing machine

The Singer Futura CE-150 is a good sewing machine reflective of Singer's history of a good product. It is easy to thread and to fill the bobbin. Conversion to embroidery mode is very simple. My only complaint is that the documentation on how to embroider is not very good. The additional software to convert grapic files to sewing machine format is very expensive.

Seller listed price incorrectly, so no sale.

I bought this for the great price, however, the seller made a mistake listing the price $200.00 under what the true asking price. They realized the mistake after I won the item. IT TIED UP MY money for several days-more than 3, since the payment had been made through PayPal. Credit only was given at that time, so no refund!!! BAD experience!

Also, in the meantime, I bought another machine, CE-150, and it is not a good machine! Don't buy!

  LOVE my Singer Emboidery Machine
Review created: 07/09/08

I bought the embroidery machine because I wanted to be able to embroider names and monograms on handmade purses. Since I purchased the machine, I've embroidered EVERYTHING! It is wonderful and so easy to use! I have never used one before and this was easy to pick up and get started. I also wanted the Singer because I did not want a machine that uses memory cards. They are so expensive. With the Singer, you can use any type of format on the machine...it's GREAT! I also love the sewing machine part of this machine. I've always used a Brother Sewing machine in the past and now I see there is no comparison! It's very easy to switch from sewing to embroidery and vice versa. The only thing I do not like about the machine is the room you have to thread the needle. It has a self threading feature, which I never use, and that feature sticks out on the left side which makes it difficult to get your hands close to the needle to pull the thread through the eye of the needle. However, it's just something that I don't like about the machine but it has not stopped me from sewing or embroidering! I definately recommend this machine!

  CE-150 worth the cost

I decided to purchase the Singer CE-150 Because I am starting a new business and wanted to embroidery my product name on our product. I also needed another regular duty machine to augment my commercial sewing machine. I like it although the software is not very user friendly. It comes with very little usable embroidery art. Over all I like it and would recomend it to others who are wanting to start with a basic embroidery machine.

Great Machine but do your research!
Review created: 09/09/09(updated 10/31/09)

I recommended to people that have computer skills, as well as a little of sewing machine experience. I am not a seamstress but had been able to embroidered some items with this.
Enjoy your machine!

  Singer CE-150 Embroidery/sewing machine
Review created: 08/10/09

In January of 2009 , I bought a Singer CE-150 embroidery/sewing machine to be able to customize embroidered items for family and friends , I LOVE this machine , have NEVER had a problem with it , it does everything I wanted and more . Our daughter visited us in June of 2009 ,fell in love with my machine and wanted one of her own , so we bought her one!! We both are in awe at the things this machine can do and wouldn't trade it for any other machine on the market today . If you are looking for a GREAT embroidery machine that will do anything you want , get this machine !!! Watch the enclosed CD that comes with it before you use it and you will not have any questions on how to use it , or what to do if you hit a snag in embroidering . This machine also has seperate optional programs that are fantastic for more customizing . I have bought every optional product and all my stabilizing and thread supplies off of E-Bay as you still get the best pricing available . Like I said I bought 2 machines and would suggest them to anyone interested in embroidery !!

  Singer CE-150 Sewing/Embroidery Machine
Review created: 08/03/09

The Singer CE-150 is an excellent machine for the beginning sewer who wants to enter the world of embroidery. The machine is quirky. I also own a CE-200 and both machines have their very specific likes and dislikes. Both like to have the 15J bobbin and balk at any other bobbin or off brand. Both like to be properly threaded which is not difficult to do, but sometimes you think you have flossed the back of the machine properly and heard the "click" as it goes into place and it turns out you haven't done it quite right. The CE-150 has specific LED error codes that are much easier to interpret than the CE-200. Her beep, beep, beeps are easier to discern and so far, she has proved to be a very reliable machine.

From a sewing standpoint, this machine has a nice stitch. It is easy to set your stitch width and length and different stitch types are easy to select with just a push of a button. It has 24 built in stitches including some decorative stitches. The machine's led lights and beeps tell you when you have the correct stitch width and length for that stitch selection. This is very nice for a beginning sewer. Tension is also a no brainer as most of the sewing stitches remain in the "S" setting for sewing. Basting stitches and switching to embroidery is about the only time you need to change the tension setting. One piece of advice though. This machine does not like to start at the very edge of the fabric. It works best when you start about 3/8 inch in and do not back stitch too far either. If you get into that last 1/4 inch edge, the machine likes to take your fabic down into the bobbin casing and make a nest. Every machine has its quirks and this is just one of hers. My CE-200 does not do this as much.

Now, this machine has an automatic button-hole setting. I have sampled this function and it technically works, but I am not fond of the stitch width and density of the stiches on the side bars of the botton holes. It does not seem to be adjustable either from my experience. I did not buy either of my machines from a dealer, so maybe there is a better way to do this, but I have not found it yet. Both machines make the same stitch so it is not an error of the machine.

The embroidery function is excellent for the beginner embroider. The advantage of this machine is that the computer is doing the work and it does not limit your design size and stitch count to the sewing machine's internal memory. It is based of your computer's memory. I do wish there was some kind of digitizing software that came with this model that would allow different embroidery files purchased online to be brought into the same grid to be lined up. The only way to spell out a name for example in a font that is not pre-loaded in the software is to open a separate grid for ech letter and try to line them up. My advice is to get your digitizer to digitize the most common names you use and save yourself the time of having to line it up yourself. The machine would need separate digitizing software if you want to do any elaborate designs that you design yourself. Once you have the emboidery file digitized and saved in the XXX format though, this machine will embroider it very well with properly spaced, digitized stiched according the the density you specified in the design. Minor modifications can be made to pre-digitized designs such as increasing or decreasing the size by a percentage.

That is about it. This is a good starter machine for sewing and emboidery.

  Use for embroidery and quilting
Review created: 05/04/09

This machine was a disappointment.

Good parts:
Nicely marked stitching lines (1/4" particularly) - but had to buy a 1/4 foot
Large spool holder on back of machine - great job feeding thread

Bad/Negative parts:
Embroidery was very difficult to use. Software was horrible. Set up on screen (my laptop) was misleading. I created something as easy as 3 initials. Broke over 10 needles in first two days of use.

The stitch width and length were located at the bottom of the stitch pad. With the slant of this part of the machine my arm would bump and change the setting I used (with straight stitching, not embroidery)while I was in the middle of feeding fabric for straight stitching 2 1'2" strips of fabric.

I am terribly disappointed. The money was wasted - already had a great machine for regular creative stitching.

  Singer CE-150
Review created: 03/02/09

Being new to machine embroidery, I didn't want to spend a fortune to see if it was for me or not. I did my research on embroidery and embroidery/sewing machines. The range in price was tremendous. I was originally looking at a machine costing $6,000.00. Could I EVER embroider enough to justify that price? I found the CE-150 just after Christmas at such a great price. I even got the bonus cd with the auto punch, hyper font, cross stitch and photo stitch. Most designs stitch out nicely but there are some that look like they need to be filled better. I'm not sure if this is the design or the machine. I had also read complaints about the machine being "touchy" and giving incorrect error messages. I had my fair share of error messages when I first started using it. I never get them now. I just have the mindset that I must have done something not "just right" for the machine. If I just follow the directions and make sure everything is correct before I start, no problems. I think they could have done a better job on the user manual. Singer does have a help line. This is a great machine for the money.

  Nice, and user friendly
Review created: 02/07/09

I was alittle nervous about a learning curve after reading some reviews. No problem, I felt like there was no learning curve!! Step-by-step intructions are easy to follow, and if there is an error message it explains what to do!! I just need to 'think of more' ideas what to make!! I downloaded some appliques, so EASY to make. I have monogrammed many things so far, made some applique shirts, and a A-B-C applique quilt in the 1st month!! I love it and the price. I just got the FREE software from the mail-in rebate, allows all of Microsofts fonts (100+) usable as fonts in your embroidery. Glad I got it. Before this I have only done simple sewing, like hems, and square curtains.
I recommend it and love it!!
