Mics don't work on any other ps2 game

Do not buy this game, unless you plan on buying only Singstar songs. The mics do not work on any other ps2 karaoke game. Period. No where on the literature or on the box does it say that these mics are not compatible with any other ps2 karaoke game. But Playstation created and endorsed this game.
Also good luck finding other Singstar singing games. This is a UK product and the games are not currently available in the US.
So buyer beware!!! If you plan on getting American Idol or any other PS2 singing game, get the mics that comes with the game or buy on a compatible ps2 mic.

Note: I am reviewing the product that has been officially released in the US. This is NOT the UK product I am reviewing.
Yes, you get to see the original music videos that accompany the songs. And yes, your voice gets recorded by the microphone so you can play it back. But that's pretty much all the plus sides to owning this horribly done game.
The microphones are not compatible with other karaoke games AND the game isn't backwards compatible with other microphones. So there's no way around buying the entire package.
The game comes with about 30 songs. You can't unlock anymore. Once you have sung them, you're done. The songs are also poorly chosen. Unlike Karaoke Revolution, the songs are either recognizable OR they aren't, based on what generation you came from. They are either SUPER OLD or SUPER NEW. So it isn't really a family fun game because the adults will get about 10 songs to choose from, the kids will get about 8, and everything else in the middle is stuff you've never heard before.
The game gets old fast. Really, the only point is to raise your score. You can't unlock characters, new songs, new features, or anything. So you just keep singing the same song over and over and over again until you get better at it. It won't happen. The screen set up is really confusing and it becomes difficult to understand what notes you should sing, how fast you should sing, what parts of the song you did great on, where you should improve....etc. Basically, it's confusing and poorly organized.
Bottom line, buy Karaoke Revolution. There's a reason why SingStar goes for cheap on Ebay and why so many people bid on Karaoke Revolution. It's just a better game in general. SingStar is a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY.

Singstar Rocks for playstation 2 has been a really fun game. It comes with the 'Rocks' game that has good selection of songs, recent and oldies. They have the actual videos for most of the songs. The game also shows your singing pitch in real time along with a bar showing where the pitch should be. The lyrics are displayed at the bottom of the screen and highlighted when it is time to sing them. The game also allows you to playback your singing and alter it (echo, robot voice, etc.) It also came with two high quality microphones. I have since gotten the 'Pop' game which is just as good. Hopefully more games will be out soon. Recommend this game, we have had a lot of fun and laughs.

I bought this for my niece and she uses it almost on a daily basis. She likes the variety of genre. She enjoys singing songs from her life and songs she sings from her fathers childhood.

Singstar rocks is a great addition to my collection of the other singtar ps2 games although it has some songs that i wouldnt consider rock like summertime by will smith, but it's fun and i'm familiar with most of the songs. These singstar games are very addicting, Great for parties and fun for the entire family!

I was a little mislead by the title. However, there are still great songs on this one. Frankly, I haven't found a Singstar that doesn't have at least a few great songs on it. Although Abba hasn't come yet. Just rember, this is not a ROCK genre Singstar and I'm sure you'll enjoy it like all of the others. If you go to Singstar's website, you can read the track list before making a purchase. I highly recommend doing your research.

SingStar is GREAT for parties. My kids and their friends sing on it and what's really great, is w/ the ps3 Singstar you can visit the store online and purchase more songs. So, everyone has something they like. We now own the whole singstar collection so the party is always at my house:)

This game is so much fun. I was very shyh about singing and my friends talked me into getting this game and trying it. I brought it over and everyone was playing, even my friends mom. Very fun and very addictive, Once you pick up a mic you won't want to stop singning.

This game is such a fun family treat. My daughter and I have singing nights with everyone in our family ! What a great way to spend time with your children and not spend a ton of money on garbage like treats at the movie and the songs on the different editions bring back some great memories :)

My daughter received a Playstation 2 for Christmas and absolutely loves to sing. She is mentally handicapped and this worked out well for her. We have all the Singstar disks and this was the only one we could not find in the stores so I tried ebay. The product was new and works wonderfully. Gives her hours of pleasure.

Okay...SingStar Rocks. 30 songs you either love, hate or never heard of. I bought this game as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She loves it. I am okay with it.
There are 30 songs and that's it...no chance to unlock new ones. While singing the songs on the game you will hear mostly the original song as opposed to your own voice, although watching the original videos as you sing is kind of cool. Beware of playback mode...you never sound as good as you thought you did!
Overall this game is okay. I don't hate it, but I'm not in love with it either. Anyone wanting to play would have to be no older than 40-ish or otherwise would not know most of the songs. If you have a group of people who like to sing and recogize the songs on this version you will have fun. The party mode is good fun... several different options - pass the mic, battle, duet, etc. On New Year's Eve we spent several hours playing in party mode and had fun: Can you play this game a lot without getting bored? I doubt it.
If you are shopping for this game on EBAY, look for a good price and don't forget to consider shipping and handling.

This tape has great songs on it that appeal to all age groups. The songs are popular ones that everyone knows. The game is easy to follow for beginners and for experience players you can only improve on your skills. I highly recommend it.

I like this game. It is a little harder than the karoke games but is more intersting. This game is unique and thats what makes it good. The mics are specially made for SingStar so that your own voice gets recorded on the game. I think its cool to be able to go back and replay your song and hear yourself singing.
