Playing the Sims Online is fun, addicting, and appealing to all age groups, both male and female, worldwide! A whole new "virtual world" awaits the person who pays the $9.99 monthly subscription to The Sims Online. This virtual world is open-ended, that is, it become what the players make of it. Players can live chat with others while doing tasks or performing actions, there are a myriad of goals a player can set for him/herself, and can provide hours and hours of entertainent and socialization at the same time! The game is based upon the best selling pc game of all time, The Sims, and takes the game a step furter, linking players from all over the world together on common ground.
Caution should be exercised for parents of players under 18 even though parental controls and profanity filters are included as an option, because "live chat" by up to 24 people at a time is possible, and private in game messaging as well. So-called "adult-themes" are rampant in the game.
The game is cutting edge for 2002, but with it's 2D graphics, it falls short today of gaming possibilities, but continues to flourish in spite of that. There are no vehicles, weaponry or ability to kill anything or anyone in game unlike most games, the game is built as an imitator of real life whereby your sim must eat, toilet, sleep, bathe, and socialize all the time while learning and doing various tasks, and live chatting with the other players.
