This is a very helpful book to help the novice and pro alike to identify gems and stones. Without a guide a person would be lost as to what kind of history a gem or stone should\would have. It also helps one to know that the identity of the stone purchased at a weekend show is the correct identity of the stone.

Bought some "old" jewelry at garage sale and wanted to learn about different gem stones and how to identify them so I could be knoledgeable when buying and selling on EBay. This book like a gemstone encyclopedia. It turned out to be an excellent resource book but a little more statistacal than I needed. Glad to have it though and need to study it more after the holidays.
