  Decent RPG :)

Silverfall is a decent rpg that shines in some areas and really flops on the others....

Pros:

1. Excellent Soundtrack :) the composer really blended styles to give you a range film score esque action tracks and a few more light hearted tracks to compliment the game play.

2. Combat is simple and is actually pretty fun. Similar to Diablo in that respect.

3. The Graphics give you something that you've never seen before with a cell shaded mix of cartoon and realism.

4. Interesting take on choices to follow nature or technology. :)

Cons:

1. Multi-player is a bit glitchy.
2. A bit annoying to install on Vista (at first)
3. Updates are a must! to get your menu and HUD to look nice.

  Very interesting Game

Visually, the game looks as good as anything around at the moment, complete with real-time lighting and reflections, weather effects, and a realistic day/night cycle. The characters have a slight outline to differentiate them from the background, and this gives them the pleasant side effect of looking quite stylish as well. What's more, the environments are very nicely drawn, with some good variety between locations, and the rag-doll physics make it possible to knock enemies down stairs and over ledges.

Diablo Killer?

Prepare for disappointment on an Epic scale. If you're hoping to pick up a classic RPG to satiate your needs, and consider NWN, Morrowind, Gothic, Dungeon Siege II, Diablo and others to be your cup of tea... do not get Silverfall. Graphic Configuration system is broken, everything must be manually entered into the games .ini config file. The game doesn't open up with a plot or story, just a max level wizard wandering aimlessly through a destroyed city, kicking Undead Troll butt. No direction of what to do, where to go to get to your character and out of this god like wizard. Worst of all, after awhile you'll start to think that the Silverfall development team were playing Diablo, but with only one eye. Meaning that this game tries to hard to be something it isn't, but not hard enough to be called a Diablo clone.

While the graphics are noticeably dated, patching is horrendous and you have to buy an expansion to get an updated engine for the game "to work properly" it's the game play that gets this title a Below Average rating.

Graphics are great. In depth character building. Good plots and several character possibilities. You are able to add to a group. You can play online of single character.

It's a little too much like Titan Quest and mage Knight. The interface is a little harder than it has to be I think, but it's good to kill some time and the price is right for what you get.

Works with Vista. I like the game. The only con is there is not much breathing room, you seem to be constantly fighting.

  Mostly good

I bought this game because it's an action RPG with co-op (like Diablo, Dungeon Siege, Titan Quest...), and the various game reviews I found for it weren't too negative.

Silverfall is pretty fun, although the camera / map views can make it a little frustrating at times. You can't zoom out as far as I'd like, and the map doesn't have any kind of notation function to it (labeling towns or letting you mark places). These things combined can make it hard to get your bearings. Also, the mini-map shows which direction the *camera* is facing, not which way your character is facing... not a negative, just something to be aware of.

Silverfall has lots of quests (so far anyway, only had it a few days), a bunch of creatures to smite, and mucho "phat loot" to plunder. The skill trees are interesting, with lots of different areas you can expand your character into. Ragdoll is always a good thing, and this game uses it very well. Graphics are really good IMO.

Three rants:
~No note-taking on map.
~Camera is kind of unhelpful.
~Dying strips you and sends you back to town.

Three raves:
~Good co-op experience.
~Nice variety of useful skills, spells, etc.
~Interesting setting (tech vs. nature) and presentation
