Silver Wire Fusing by Liz Jones (2008, Paperback)

I had taken a class in silver wire fusing and wanted to expand what I had learned. This book is perfect for what I need, and also for a beginner without classroom instruction. Very clear and concise, it's sure to become a favorite teaching and reference work. Great work!

Oh this book has me on a new path with my Jewelry Making..I'm in the process of buying all of the items I need to teach myself how to Fuse! I'm very excited and this book is GREAT! I have to thank one of my Beady Friends for telling me about this Book! Thanks AM!!!

I have never done any work with a torch before. I picked up this book and within hours I had made a bracelet! There are a wide variety of projects for the beginning metal worker and they are very charming and well designed. If you are itching to start melting some metal this is the perfect book to get you started! Liz Jones explains all of the tools you will need to be familiar with along with very clear instructions for assembling the projects. It's like taking a class without paying for it!!!

What I liked about the book. The photos were clearl. The texts/instructions were to the point, clear and easy to understand.

What I did not like about the book.
1. author failed to mention the kind of tumbler she used. Here, her profressional opinion on the kinds of tumbler matters.
2. she wrote general statements about each tool/equipment she used but didn't categorically say why she preferred this tool or that brand. Other jewelry artist/writers are specific about why they prefer certain brands. Yet, tell you that in general you should look for when purchasing your tools.
3. She only talked of tumbling CZ beads - but remained silent on semi-precious beads. Can one tumble it?
4. Where can one contact her with questions or comments? She didn't place her professional website or email address one could visit or write to.

On the whole, I would have wanted her to talk MORE on her experiences handling specific tools/materials as well as state what is not possible or is possible with the materials. .. Even as she should open more possibilities on how to expand the uses of these materials/medium.
