Silver Threads by Jeanne Rhodes-moen (2006, Paperback)

I checked this book out at my local library. I wanted to see how the delicate looking filigree jewelry was made. I was so surprised with all the helpful information in it. The author has done a wonderful job of making the projects easy to follow. I'm a novice at silver soldering and was able to complete the first project with relative ease. It even looked like her example. She explains how to solder the fine filigree wire to a heavier gauge wire. This is something that all jewelry makers need to learn, and one of the most frustrating. How many times have we melted the fine wire before the solder even flowed? I really like the earring projects, as they use all filigree wire(same gauge, no melting) Yeh ! This also shows how to bend wire, make bezels, set cabs, polish silver on finished pieces, etc. When my book was do to turn in, I immediately went to Ebay to buy my own copy. The only upgrade to this book I can think of would be a loose leaf version. I'm looking forward to more books from this wonderful author !

Wow! This is not a wire wrapping book but some of the designs would inspirational for the wire wrapper. This technique does involve soldering.

The jewelry is absolutely lovely -- if you love victorian style or the scandinavian style wedding jewelry you will love this book!
