Carl Perkins' edition of the SILVER EAGLE PRESENTS LIVE series is comparable to Perkins' LIVE AT GILLEY's set. Both were recorded in the early '80s, and Perkins is in fine form on both. The only complaint is that SILVER EAGLE PRESENTS LIVE is a far shorter CD than the hour-plus GILLEY's. But you can't complain about the inspired, fun readings of such Perkins favorites as the album-opening "Matchbox," "Gone, Gone, Gone," "Dixie Fried," and "Blue Suede Shoes." Also featured are covers of "Mojo Working" and "That's Alright," which help make SILVER EAGLE PRESENTS LIVE a highly enjoyable collection.
