Silk Ribbon Machine Embroidery by Nancy Bednar (1997, Hardcover)

I first encountered silk ribbon embroidery by machine in a class taught by the late Philip Pepper. What a concept! I searched for a long time for a book
and found this one. The author takes her inspiration from the embellishments
done at the mid to late 19th and early 20th century..and translates the techniques to the sewing machine.

Rejoice machine embroidery enthusiasts! Her directions are basic, the techniques build one on another and the equipment needs are simple: A machine that does straight and zig-zag, as well as the ability to raise and lower the feed dogs and an open embroidery foot (I have yet to see one but in the book it looks like a darning foot with a half circle instead of a full circle closure) are some of the accessories mentioned.

I can see I am going to have some fun with my attachments and what I will have to look around for. A highly recommended informative text about an old-fashioned method going high tech. A superb way to add dimension, texture and
some glam to clothing, quilts, and accessories.
