Silent Hill 3 (PlayStation 2, 2003)

Silent Hill 3 offers the gamer a great experience. You play as Heather, a teenager that is drawn into silent hill after some gruesome series of events. The story is very good. Like in many games the voice acting is a bit off, but not so much as to say it's bad. The game looks great. The lighting effects create a great atmosphere. The game plays in very dark areas and the shadows formed by the flashlight look awesome. The monsters in the game are very well designed. These monsters range from the typical monster dog, to the large and hard-to-kill Insane Cancer. The control is basically the same as in past silent hills. The stages one goes through are very creepy. The haunted mansion is one of my favorites. There are some camera angles that are awkward to play in, but they are rare. Overall I give this game a 4 out of 5 ranking because it's a short game.

After playing Silent Hill 2 which was great, I wanted to see what Silent Hill 3 was like but was very disappointed. It had a poor story line which was hard to follow and seemed like it was just thrown together to make a game. The graphics were good, but the lack of a good story made the length of the game NOT worth it.

I have always been a fan of the Silent Hill series. When I first found out about Silent Hill 3, I was skeptical. Game developers and movie writers can take a series too far sometimes... That is NOT the case with Silent Hill 3. Playing as Heather, you travel through the cursed town that is Silent Hill with all new monsters and demons to fight.

The graphics in this game are stunning! When I say stunning, I mean that the cut-scenes (not all super-developed CGI, but actually good quality scenes during game play) are crisp and there's virtually no delay or quality difference from a scene to the gameplay. This has got to be one of the best games in the Silent Hill series.

The original was perhaps the best, just because of the creepy ambience that the game gives the player. Silent Hill 3 has a great soundtrack, but I didn't find it as eerie as the first two titles in the series. Overall, the sounds you hear and the score/soundtrack to this game are still very fitting of Silent Hill, very fitting of things that go bump in the night.

On replay... You will find more than just a re-do button when you finish Silent Hill 3. You have an increased difficulty scale that is unbelievable. You can begin with Easy, Normal and Hard mode. Once Hard Mode has been finished, you begin with Extreme 1 and go to Extreme X. To call Extreme X challenging should win some major awards for understatement of the year...

I suppose the best way to say this is, "If you are thinking about investing in Silent Hill the game because of Silent Hill the movie, then this is definately a game to pick up." The plot from the movie is similar to this title, with a few characters you will recognize. I have to say that this is one of my favorite Playstation 2 titles, and well worth any amount. This without a doubt is the scariest game ive ever played!!! The best game in the silent hill series. Sends chills down your spine!!! I highly recommend this game for anyone whos a fan of resident evil/survial horror games. The only thing that is a problem in this game is the camera angles. Sometimes its a pain to turn the camera view around. But with the game being so good you start to not care about it and really enjoy the game. Bottom line is BUY IT!!!

i rarely play this game because my room is very dark and this game scares the CRAP out of me.

the first time i played it i was high and i almost cried it was so scary.
i havent cried from fright since i was 7. so thats gotta tell you something.

you play as heather morris, the adopted daughter of harry from the original silent hill. you start out in one of the creepiest damn amusements parks ive ever seen. from there, you have to bear the onslaught of the warped, demented monsters. be wary of every door you enter, because you never know whats behind it. ive jumped out of my seat (and nearly my skin) many times. this is NOT a game for the kiddies. unless they want to be scarred for the rest of their lives.

the graphics in this game are AMAZING. the lighting and shadow effects are stellar. the detail in all the gruesome environments almost turns your stomach sometimes. the creatures look extremely grotesque, and quite disturbing. the places you visit are all very well rendered, giving you quite a forboding feeling.

the soundtrack adds an eerie feeling throughout, perfectly complimenting the hellish surroundings with your footsteps echoing down long corridors, monsters making monsterly sounds...

the controls rock, with a very rarely seen choice between 2D & 3D controls. the rest is pretty much the same as in the other games.

you get a much more capable arsenal this time around, with a katana sword, submachine gun, and other assorted weaponry.

to sum it up, you need this game. you need it bad.
if you find it in a story, dont hesitate. BUY IT. i paid 30 bucks for mine at electronics boutique. dont count on getting it on ebay. people are rabid for this game.

This game doesnt have the best story, and isnt as good as silnt hill 2 for the ps2 games go, but the graphics are better and make it look great. You cang et new costumes but i wasnt really buying into that side part of the game. I thought this game was a little scary, not to much but it has some more jokes in it thatn the others. The end was rewarding.

This is an awesome game! I love playing this game and getting scared at the same time. I have all of the Silent Hill games and this one is by far the best of all of them.

Konami has made an espectacular work creating, in Silent Hill, a really complex and interesting history.

We are introduced in a suspense, changing world. Each game of the series divulges new secrets and new personages to us. In the beginning, part three seemed to me a little boring but I was mistaken. When you advance in the game, you are able to unravel the complex and great history. Silent Hill 3 reveals and interlaces itself with the previous parts.

Don't doubt in buying this title!

To me personly this has been my favorite game in the series so far next to number one, I guess because it ties into number so well and continues its story somewhat and the music is awesome as always, great game

The game does have some very sick and scary...and i mean scary parts scattered all through the game, which is tipical and normal of Silent Hill games. sometimes you can walk somewhere see something REALLY strange moving, however you can't reach it, but its fun and freaky to see.

the dialouge in THIS silent hill was pretty lame and dull, plus the music was a little high while they were talking, so I had to keep the captions on(they do talk for a LONG time sometimes). Nothing really happened at the end, i guess they just went home and the final boss was not even that hard, i say 2 out of 10 it was hard.

after you finish the game you are given plenty of chances to unlock outfits for Heather. she has nearly 20 different tank-tops to wear, she does wear jeans, and it says that if you complete the game under each level (10), you can unlock the Alyssa outfit. she does find a light saber which does work, and she even has a sailormoon like outfit that comes with a little funny scene of her transforming. so yea.

I like how fast delivery was it was within a few days an good packing,other than that. They did not say the condition of game as i found more than a few scratches,works ok.I got the game because it really scarey an a classic to add to the other silent hill games I have.This one you cant find in stores.

I played this game a long time ago, and really loved it. I really wanted to play again. I am happy that the game i bought works, and is everything I expected it to be. It adds a great deal to my collection of gaming. A pleasure doing business with yea.

This is a very good game. I was surprised to find the original receipt from when the seller bought it. What I didn't like about it was that the condition of the case and the disk. They had some sort of "sticky white stuff" on them. The disc was able to be cleaned off, but the case still looks odd.

The graphics of this game improved much better than the previous silent hill games that's for sure. The game is more interesting because your character is a female, as always great scary eerie sounds. I think more horror games should have more good looking female main characters, just more scarier that way. So far I don't see any negatives about this game, this game is a keeper. Make sure you play the silent hill games in total darkness, scarier and better game experience.

I like Silent hill very much. So far the game is good and creeps the hell out of me. Especially when I play it in the dark. It also came with an awesome soundtrack. I'm glad I purchased it, especially when it is truly the sequel to the original silent hill story line. For 30 dollars, I think it was worth it. :)

I consider myself a veteran of the Silent Hill series, I originally bought the first title on Playstation, and was instantly hooked on this eerie third installment.

Having played all the other titles, including Silent Hill 4, I had skipped this one strangely enough. It had been very difficult to find in any games store, the recent movie attracting many more fans to the survival horror genre, and the only copy I found was a disk without a case (for sale for $30- I had bought the fourth one brand new for $26!!).

However I found this excellent copy on ebay, which was also advertised for a great price. I snatched it up right away, wanting to complete the series, and although I have not made it that far in the game so far, it has been impressing.

The same fearful atmosphere that many Silent Hill gamers are familiar with is still apparent, and I guarantee many of you will be shaking as you turn into dark narrow corridors with your transistor radio going haywire with white noise. The gameplay is very good, and an even more fearsome array of monsters are now introduced. Expect to see fetus chicken walkers, and the fearsome Mandarins beasts to bring a whole new level of heart pounding action.

The levels are also new and interesting, a mall begins the game, and fans of the series will see the frequent images nodding towards the first games sinister attachment to this one. The soundtrack is also very good, with a sound track included in some copies of the game, and of course the horrific noises of the monsters which is bordering on aural torture (which goes really well with the game ;) ).

However Silent Hill 3 is not without its flaws. The camera angle is sometimes a problem which i was well aware of before I bought the game. It sometimes flails around wildly, and when you're fighting agile dogs with a pistol and a few rounds of ammo, this isnt a good thing. Also the plot is somewhat linear, more so than the previous titles, although I wont complain about how bizarre the plot line is, since I've gotten used to that since I finished the first game.

Overall, Silent Hill is a very good game, and I recommend it to fans of the series. So far I have only made it to the subway, but the bizare plot is only beginning to unfold. There are a few faults but I wont hold them agaisnt the game, and the puzzles and riddles are as devilish as ever. I advise getting it now, before all the copies are taken !

Silent Hill is awesome, that's a given, but 3 is above and beyond.

It may not be quite as creepy as the other titles in the series, but it has a more engaging story line, a clearer path, more developed locations, better gameplay controls, and a massive array of special features. This one takes the bloody, dead-guy-in-rabbit-mascot-costumes cake!

If you like ANY of the Silent Hill games (or the movies!), this game is a MUST-PLAY for you.

I love this series of horror fantasy games its so bloody and dark its one of the best of the series. I bought the game for my wife because she likes silent hill so i bought her all of them including this one. I dont think there is anything i dislike about it...

I love this whole game. It's really fun and challenging. I've you're already a fan of the Silent Hill series you'll love this game. The only thing that I found difficult to get accustomed to was you have to press Select for the items menu and start to pause and in Silent Hill 2 it's the exact opposite.

I bought these for my nephew for christmas. I guess he had been looking for them and was haveing a hard time finding the games outside of new ones. He like me just can not afford the price of a brand new game and so I was thrilled to death to find the game here for him. He has enjoyed playing the game.

Excellent terror game. Blockbuster game, indispensable game for collector's. Silent Hill is very great game. Bonanza graphs, frightful track and empolgante plot. At last an indispensable classic.

Silent Hill 3 is a great continuation to the already bizarre macabre town of Silent Hill. This game should have actually been called the "True" Silent Hill 2, as it continues the storyline from the first PlayStation Hit. Though it is a true sequel to the first Silent Hill, like ALL the other games, you can pick it up and play it through with its own story. The Combat is great, with new weapons. Also, more areas of Silent Hill are accessible, like the Amusement Park. This game is a MUST HAVE for ANY Silent Hill fans. You will truly regret not adding this one to your collection!
