  Refreshingly entertaining independent film.

Most film descriptions are accurate in comparing this to the 28 series
when an unknown infection spreads, causing mass hysteria and violence.

While this is the current trend of film concepts as of late, what makes
this unique is the theme. Essentially when you're infected, you are still
conscientiously aware of yourself. What makes it that much more horrifying,
is that people begin rationalizing their own violent behavior as self-defense
or by anything deemed personally necessary. Completely unlike countless
"zombie" movies where victims loose all sense of their own identity or
personality. These are intelligent murders, not mindless beasts.

Not only does the film maintain a well paced amount of intensity, but
surprisingly keeps a sense of humor as well, especially in the second
scenario or chapter (similar division of storyline to that of Tarantino
films).

The film quality and directing is rich and the acting satisfying. If you're
a fan of the 28 series, it is a definite recommendation, but it is a much
more original and well rounded film that can't be compared to. Especially
considering that this will likely go by unnoticed for most.

10/10

  A New Cult Classic
Review created: 11/11/08

Highly original, scary, funny, disturbing...The list goes on. Destined to be a cult classic, The Signal is not really comparable to any other movie. There are some similarities to 28 Days Later, as far as the apocalyptic setting of the movie, but overall, the originality makes it like no other.

The movie is told in 3 parts, or transmissions. The first is very scary and disturbing, and deadly serious. The second is very funny, full of irony and laugh-out-loud satire, but also very violet at the same time. The third, and final, transmission, surprisingly, has a lot of heart, and is full of some very intense emotional confrontations.

As the movie twists and turns until the great, final ending, you realize how talented all the people are who were involved with the making of this movie. I highly recommend it. Also, don't forget to watch the special features. There's a lot of great stuff there too. The Hap Hapgood Story is not to be missed.

  Disturbing
Review created: 05/28/08

Disturbing horror film about a weird signal that has disrupted all phone, TV and radio service. It changes your mind so that you become rationally homicidal. There is a rhyme and a reason to what you do, it just involves well thought out murder. There is something about the film that gets under your skin since its operating on its own twisted logic. Its a bleak tale that left me feeling very uneasy. To be honest its not perfect, some of the performances are weak and the narrative isn't all there (I can't explain it with having to explain a great deal) but it still manages to have an affect on you. Clearly its geared to be seen on TV where the early video nasty (or is this something happening somewhere else?) segues into a weird pattern that will make you wonder if your TV has fritzed out. It hasn't but the world in the film has. One of the more unique horror films of late. Worth a look if you like horror films.

  What a lousy signal
Review created: 05/15/09(updated 05/17/09)

What in the world was this all about. I was expecting a cool movie but was left confused about everything. The beging was good but it slowly lost it's focus ,and what about the signal was it a government expierment gone wrong or alien. The ending made no sense at all then again all of the movie made no sense at all

A Twisted Movie..... Well Worth The Money Spent
Review created: 04/17/09

This movie actually is a very good movie. Quality of film could have been better, but overall storyline, acting, the general twisted plot and climax of the movie made it out to be good.
It all starts out one night where the television and radio stations all start playing the same signals which if you watch it or hear it long enough, it makes you think that someone's out to hurt you and that everyone has lost their mind. It makes you think that any action you do is the right action, and the people in this movie are literally, sickly mad....
It is well worth the money to buy it, or even rent it. I liked the story, and it was sort of similar to a zombie flick, but the difference is that the people who are corrupted by the signal, look like your average person, and you really can't tell who is infected or not.

awesome movie, i would say it is very original. although the plot is kinda weak that doesn't matter cuz its a freaking movie you have to use your imagination when watching a movie. of course everything you watch is not going to be real or have a perfect plot.

I thought it was an unexpected classic. You think it's gonna be about one thing, and it's not at all. Amazing film!
