I just purchased this lens about a month ago. During that time I've taken a lot of great quality pictures, which surpassed my expectations. I can honestly say this is the best lens I've ever owned. One thing I read that a lot of people complain about is that the auto focusing mechanism is supposed to be "noisy". I think it sound cool, doesn’t bother me at all.

I have been in professional photography for about 10 years now. I have a wide range of lenses, but the 28-70MM f/2.8 is one of my most common out and about lenses. Its small, compact, light weight, allows me to take it anywhere and with the f/2.8 you can shoot in low light areas like museums, weddings, and bar like environments. The metal connecting jacket forms a tight fit unlike some of the plastic or nylon lenses. The 67mm filter size is pretty common so you can use existing filters. The only improvement I would make would be to increase the zoom from 70 to 80 or 90mm. Over all great lens!!!

Very Happy with this lens (for Konica-Minolta and Sony cameras)!
I did a lot of research for a good zoom lens for my digital Konica-Minolta 7D and this lens was very highly rated, especially on Dyxum.com
It is indeed small for its category; fits well in the hand and both the zoom and focus rings are comfortable to operate. I also like the finish on the lens because its texture imparts a good grip and doesn't feel slick like some more polished lenses. There is some lens creep once the lens is extended past the 28mm position, but at 28mm there is a zoom lock switch that prevents zoom creep while toting the camera around the neck.
The image quality doesn't disappoint at all. In many instances it's comparable to my prime lenses. Granted that when the lens is tested scientifically, it may not be as sharp, but to my eyes it is! Colors are nice and vivid as well. It works well with ADI (advance distance integration) function and flash exposure was much improved over my non ADI lenses. And finally, its close focus distance is a foot, which gives around 1:5 magnification ratio and allows to shoot close to the subject for ultimate versatility.
Price?! Well, it's half of what you might pay for a comparable Sony or Minolta brand lens. Overall, this is a perfect solution for someone who needs an all-purpose walk-around lens and more. I highly recommend it!
