Siemens A56 (AT&T)

I felt that the article stated the exact facts, it is a great phone. It's not complicated, it's small, it's efficent, it's all you need in a good and dependable wireless phone! The facts were to the point although different remarks to the calculator, games or calender were left out. Not bad...

One day I walked into my living room to find that my corgi puppy had chewed my cell phone into a useless pile of plastic. How did one get so dependent on a cell phone? Have to replace. Cingular not much help and budge at all time low. The answer, of course, eBay. I searched all the listings and settled on this one as it seemed to be a used but quality product and the price was something that I could afford. I do so wish that it had included a manual as I am not a tech whiz by any means. But by process of trial and error, I found out how to use it for what I need. Has all the bells and whistles and from my research is just an older model in a category that updates every day, it seems.
It works, I can make telephone calls, I can receive telephone calls and so I am delighted with it. As for cons, I have to get a case or holder for it as it is so light and so sensitive (really good things) that sometimes I put in numbers as I handle it inadvertantly. By the way, Cingular wanted quite a bit of money for insurance in case of more accidents. Not to mention that then it had a deductible that was way, way, way more than this lovely little phone cost me. Don't you love it.

My wife's phone died for no reason so I gave her mine and needed to find a cheap one for myself. If you're looking for a phone with a camera and nice features, look elsewhere. If you want a cheap one to make calls, this is a winner. I haven't explored the games and other options since I don't use them.

The call quality is great and it seems to get better reception than my previous phone. I'm happy with the phone and will keep it until it dies.

My only complaint is the inability to quickly change call volume. Otherwise, I would recommend it.

This will be a bit long, but it bears reading, I think. I received this phone for free when I was telemarketed and signed up w/ Cingular in Oct. 2002. I was a 35 yr old father of 2 who needed to get his first cell phone.(Yep,First) This phone has traveled with me over 100,000 miles in five years and seven states. I install fire alarm systems for a living and also operate an online business, and this little bugger has turned out to be the most dependable phone I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of cell phones die on my friends due to age or abuse... My best friend has gone thru 4 phones in the time I have had this one, and I'm still on the ORIGINAL BATTERY! No, there is NOTHING fancy about this phone, but it's comfort, utility and absolute refusal to die under any circumstances raise it to a level rarely seen in any product anymore; Let's see.... I have dropped this phone from 8 and 10 foot ladders on at least 6 occasions and have simply had to snap the case back together and turn it back on to find it worked perfectly each time... I have dropped it in water on 2 occasions, retrieving it from the john within 10 sec once and under 1 min in salt water another, and after dis-assembling and shaking the parts out and drying them overnight, again, the delight of turning it on and seeing the reassuring orange glow... Speaking of moist, I now have 3 kids, 7,3 and 1; All of them have gnawed/drooled on this phone since they were tiny because it is small enough for their tiny hands, and it is cool, smooth, rounded and blue... speaking of small and rounded, this phone will fit comfortably in the pocket of anything, anywhere...Seriously... Will fit in the coin pocket of your 501's... I felt a need to let everyone know about this perfect gem for reasons that may seem antiquated to anyone under the age of 30, but it's really very simple. Things are supposed to do what they do WELL. This phone is superb in it's simplicity and utter reliability, and dude, L@@K at how CHEAP they are!!!!... My kids will each have one because they dont need high speed connectivity, they need a phone I know won't let them down and as close as I can guarantee, a lifeline to Mom and Dad.

OH Yeah, forgot to mention how good the phone works and sounds; controls are intuitive and sound is great! You plug in the earbud and drop it in a shirt pocket, it just disappears..... Like I said, long winded... Anyway, the only reason that I was motivated to write this review was the theft of my phone. I really didn't realize how much I relied on it's perfect attendance record until my wife left it in a cab, and it flew away with the next passenger...

So I have bought a couple more, seeing as I already have the chargers and earbud. Seriously, this phone has NEVER let me down in 5 years; I guess there really isn't anything else to say except that perfection of form and function are worthy of praise, hence this ridiculously long review of an older, obscure phone that nobody's probly ever gonna read....:)

This is an excellent phone for a person who does not want frills or gimmicks. It is an older model phone that was great a few years ago, but is fairly primitive by today's standards. The ringtones are fun yet less entertaining that many of today's hits. The screen is not colorful, but it is sufficient for someone just looking for, say, a phone. This is not a good phone for someone who wants hi-tech games and photoshop on their cell, but should be considered if you just want a basic phone.

In 2005 I purchased one and it got busted up in my car accident. I love that phone cause it is so small.

I love my simple, cute little Siemens A56 cell phone. It is sleek, simple lightweight, small, and very compact in one piece. I do not have to worry about flipping open the phone to use it. It is very easy to use with the features that are just right for me, nothing complicated at all. I had one identical to this Siemens A56 several years ago and I loved it so much I decided to get another one after my contract ended with the flip phone that I hated. I would like to add-I wish this cell phone could be put back on today's market.
I am delighted with my Siemens A56 cell phone!
