Siegfried and Roy - The Magic Box (DVD, 2004, 3D Version/Viewing Glasses Included)

I purchased this item assuming the "3D version", complete with glasses, would be superior to the copy I already had. Instead I was VERY disappointed to find that the 3D version wiped out ALL the color and made it quite disappointing to watch.
The quality of the DVD itself is fine. It made a good "gift" for a friend who had never seen it before. I would have liked to see mention in the ad that 3D shows as "black and white, not in color". It would have saved me purchasing a copy of something I already had.

If you're a 3D collector, or simply plan to buy this title to see the 3D in it, you will be really disappointed. This is a documentary about Siegfried and Roy and not one of their shows, which you can watch in 2D, and supposedly in 3D.

This 3D version simply doesn't work, more than likely because it's not a real 3D film. Here and there, you have some CGI animation (maybe 3% of the movie) that looks 3D because it was generated for this purpose, and probably to soothe the spectators' frustrations. But for the rest of the movie, nothing, zilch, NADA!

It's not even a conversion from 2D to 3D called Living 3D using special software or hardware, that may (sometimes but rarely) create the illusion of 3D. The 3D effects in this movie have been made from the same image, duplicated, one shifted to the left, the other shifted to the right. You can't have an illusion of 3D if both image are from the same original image, each eye must see a different image.

The best you may have with this movie is a headache in 3D.

Unless you want to see a documentary about Siegfried and Roy in 2D, and absolutely not in 3D, this title is a total waste of time and money.

If you like old documentaries, you make like this. My family found it very boring. It was hard to stay awake during the whole DVD.

Being a fan of both Las Vegas and Siegfried & Roy this dvd held special interest for me. The story line is great; the photography is amazing...as an extra added attraction it is shot in 3D. A truly interesting and entertaining video...well worth any price.

If you are a fan or just interested you will love it. Really well done and provides some insight into Roy Horn's devastating tiger attack.

The option to see in 3D kept switching to standard thus defeating the purpose of me buying it. This seller doesn't have the business sense to refund my money. BEWARE OF THIS SELLER!

Say what you want about Siegfried & Roy, theirs was the only show I would have wanted to see had I gone to Vegas. They had style, they had personality, and they could capture the attention of their audience.

The magic is incredible ... Siegfried was amazing. Roy brought the exotic animals which took their stuff to the next level.

I bought this DVD to see the actions behind the words. I have the book they released about their life stories, their rise to fame, and their Vegas show. The people they have performed for was impressive.

Entertainers like Siegfried & Roy happen once in a lifetime ... I am sad my only opportunity to see their act is on DVD. Who could have foreseen what happened to Roy onstage.

I started watching the 3D version of this DVD, and what I saw was awesome. I have decided to save that for another time. I thoroughly enjoyed the regular version.

This DVD is worth watching if you are a fan of magic in general.

Interesting story, really good filming, but the 3D version left a lot to be desired. I am amazed at the men and their cats, but this was the story more about their early years and how they got started, most of which I already knew from reading their bio. Not impressed, sorry to say.

I have a Sony Bravia TV and a Blueray player maybe this DVD was not meant to be played on this type of TV because the 3D comb computes differently but at times
the color separate into just green and red and times it looked black and white
I could not tell what was supposed to look like, so I am not an accurate judge because my TV has the advanced 3D which might have ot bee able to deciper the older 3D signals? I bought it because I liked Siefried and ROy and thier beautiful

This was disappointing beyond belief.
Wanting to find out more about Seigfried and Roy, how they got started, and find out more about their incredible acts, this video left me unsatisfied and greatly disappointed.
The 3-d glasses and option, was ridiculous.

If you have seen Siegfried and Roy on stage you will recognize these magic tricks from their show. But this is not like a filmed version of the stage show. This is a story of their lives with actors protraying them as boys, flashing back and forth between then and the current show. It is the same story line as the magic show, which makes more sens but you don't have all the great music, etc. It was good, but I would have actually preferred a filmed version of the show better, that is what I thought I was buying.
