  Who doesn't need this book!

I read this book as a child when I was introduced to it by a teacher. I begged my dad for all of Shel Silverstein's books. When I saw that Where The Sidewalk Ends had an anniversary addition, I HAD to have it! This is a fabulous book to get children to read. Short and fun poem with cute pictures make it an easy read! It is weird that I read these poems over 20 years ago and I still remember most of the words to all of the poems. A favorite of mine that I hope becomes a favorite of yours!

  Fun, fun, fun poems!

This was one of my favorite books when I was younger. I checked it out, like the other kids, because of the poem "US", in which a two-headed man talks about the tribulations of being attached to someone else (and uses the word "pee"). Once I made it past the shock value, I found that I loved the poems in the book because they were so silly and fun. I subsequently checked out the other volumes--including A Light in the Attic, which contains poems just as good as the first book. For a real treat, find the CD that goes along with this book. It has some of Shel Silverstein's recordings on it. Toddlers and kids of all ages love reading this book.

This book is a "must have" for those with young children since most children will love the funny poems. It is also a treasure for adults who love poetry since it is insightful and thought provoking.

I read the works of Shel Silverstein when I was in grade school, and have been looking for an affordable copy to add to my collection. It's usually upwards of $28 in a book store, so I was delighted to find it here so affordable. Highly recommend anyone collecting remnents of their childhood.
