Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein (1974, Hardcover)

I know most people can go to a book store and find the right book. ME I seem to be the one that gets to the book store as the last copy is being bought. I grew up on the poems in this book and have been looking to replace my copy for 10 years. The seller of this book did not know what a treasure it would be to me, but I know. This book expresses so many things that, if you truly READ the words, show you how life should be. My favorite poem is called the Difference, if you get a chance to read this one you will understand why. I know we are not to plagiarize, so here is a direct quote from the book, "Maybe the way to make everything right is for GOD to reach up and turn out the light". I bought Where the Sidewalk ends, a book by Shel Shilverstein. I remember reading it as a child. It is filled with funny poems and great drawings. Such a good book to pass the children in your lives or even for yourself if you just want a good laugh.

When my children were growing up we used to sit at the dinner table and each child would have a turn to either read a poem, short story or joke to the rest of the family. Unstoppable laughter and giggles would erupt through out the dinner table. My children are now grown and this is still one of our best memories of spending time together and listening to each other. Where the Sidewalk Ends was one of our family favorites. I have purchased each of my grand children this book and other great childrens poetry by Shel Silverstein.

Growing up, my favourite days in elementary school were Shel Silverstein days. I remember vividly my varous teachers reading the poem, then showing us the pictures. This was an important part of my school life from about 2nd to 4th grade (of course we were to "mature" as 5th graders for that. Now things from my childhood make me happy again, so I have been purchasing Where The Sidewalk Ends books and CD's as christmas gifts for my siblings families, so my nieces and nephews can enjoy them. The CD is very good, and are expertly read, with music added on some, by Shel Silverstein himself. There are only about 40 poems on the CD, and I wish there were more, maybe even all, but as is, it is a very good companion to the book.

I like this book a lot and wish I had purchases it for myself. I had to replace the book that my son lost from the library. I plan on purchasing one for my children and I will definately buy it from here. The book was in very good condition for a very cheap price. I also received it pretty quick.

The poems will make you laugh and some have a few things to think about. My children love reading and listening to the poems. What a great way to cultivate a love of poetry that will hopefully turn into a love of the great poets. Sipmle little rymes that kids can learn and memorize and enjoy as they get older.

I loved this book when I was in elementary school so I wanted to add it to my collection.and I really dont know 3387 character to say on why I bought this book whats wrong with just being able to say I wanted it so I bought it!

Love this book because my son read this series when he was young. Bought this for his daughter so that she could enjoy the same books he loved as a child. Great purchase. Shel Silverstein writes unique poems that keep a child's interest.

This book is a must have if you have children or if you have any that visit your home. Shel has a fun way with words, in fact his poems have stuck in my head for 30 years! That Sarah Silva Cynthia Stout would not take the garbage out, yes, still in my head! lol I cannot wait to read these to my kids and smile and laugh, knowing they will love them today as much as I did 30 years ago.

I ordered this book for my eight year old granddaughter who loves this poet. When this seller realized that they no longer had this book in stock, they were very gracious in their condolences and for any inconvenience. And they were speedy in reimbursing my bank account for the amount of the purchase. I highly recommend this seller to all book lovers who are looking for a special book.

This book is full of fun(ny) poems and the artwork is a little oddball but fun as well! I can't wait to share this with my son as he grows.

Great children's book, it was one of my very favorites growing up. Very creative. Not a bad thing to say...

We've had "A Light in the Attic" since my daughter was 3, she enjoyed the poems then when I read to her at bedtime. Now she is in first grade and she has read it many times by herself. The day I got "Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein" for her, she couldn't put it down. I've since acquired more books by Shel Silverstein since my daughter wants them all.

Man just like "A Light In The Attic" this book will spark imagination, I dont know what kid has read this book and didnt like it!!! I know I did and am now gonna pass it on to my good kids and nefews!!

I loved the stories and drawings in this book back when I was a kid. A few decades later and I'm reading it to my 8 year-old and he loves it just as much as I did years ago. And it's actually just as much fun to read to him as it is to hear it for the first time. Great book to own!

I ordered the book they listed as having online but after I'd payed for it got an email saying that it wasn't in stock. They offered a different book which I accepted but then got yet another email saying once again the book wasn't in stock. Finally I just asked for my money back

I decided to buy this book for my children. My imagination was captured by the writings of Shel Silverstein when I was a child and it is a pleasure to revisit this masterpiece and share it with my little ones. It is a bit above their reading level, but children of all ages can connect with the spoken rhymes and imaginative pictures. It is a journey into the imagination.
