Great mic all around. Solid instrument and vocal mic.I use this mic for everything. It is the one mic I always have on me for gigs and when I'm running sound. You can not go wrong when you have a Beta 57 with you.

Microphone sounds like gold.
When used on snare, can handle incredibly high SPL's without distortion; also removes a lot of bleed.
Great for use as a live vocal mic, too; the singer will need some good mic technique though, as the mic is more directional than most.
Sounds great on a guitar cab too.

Beta 57AClear, precise polar pattern, a bit more so than the SM57. Pop filter smooths sounds, as well, for when vocalists want to eat the mic. Excellent instrument mic, best I've used. Overall quality pushing the range of much more expensive condenser mics.

If you havent tried one of these as an instrument mic you are missing out! I've been recording for over 10 years and this is my favorite tom mic. I've used everything from Senny MD's to Audix D's Use it on anything from a 16" floor to an 8" and you will love the sound. It has a great mid range that doesnt tin out when you want to eq in more attack. Very smooth.
I also use it on guitar amps with pleasing results as well.
Many people love to use it on live vocals but I stick with beta 58's and 87's there.
