Shrink Your Female Fat Zones by Denise Austin is a great book for people like me. I was in my mid-30's, had recently had my second child, and was really needing help in losing weight and getting back in shape. This book reminded me of key points I had forgotten since I was in my mid-20's. You know, back before children, etc.
Denise includes a short chapter in the beginning of the book that covers a brief history of women's anatomy over time and the difference between men's and women's genetic makeup. She also covers basic research in losing weight and the importance in raising your metabolism. Whichever "fat zone" section you want to work on, Denise still stresses the importance of walking, stretching, and healthy eating. Her philosophy makes perfect sense.
There are several neat features in the book as well as specific sections for: walking, stretching, upper body, mid-body, lower body, and healthy eating/dieting. The first five sections mentioned above all have plenty of pictures of Denise illustrating how to do each move. She also thoroughly explains how each exercise is helpful. That, to me, was very helpful and motivating! There is also a "diary," if you will, to record your exercise and eating habits throughout this six-week program. Two other neat features I enjoy in the book are positive quotes from Denise and inspirational stories from other women sprinkled throughout the book.
This book really motivated me and guided me through losing 19 pounds. I've had the book for about two years, and I still reference it all the time so that I keep my 19 pounds off for good!
