U.S. WWII Shoulder Patches
Review created: 07/13/08(updated 12/14/08)

This is a basic reference guide to the various shoulder sleeve insignias worn by the armed forces of the United States during WWII. It also contains sections dealing with civilian volunteer organizations, the Civil Air Patrol, and the various State Guards.
All illustrations are in full color, and an outline of each of the unit histories behind each of the insignia is an added bonus for those who like 'the story behind the insignia'.
Unfortunately, the reference is far from a complete accounting of all shoulder sleeve insignia worn, as many rare and small unit patches are not shown. Nor is there any comment or detail to the reader on how to distinguish original WWII production patches from modern production patches - something that is very important for novice collectors.
All-in-all, this reference book gets my recommendation as a basic reference guide that deserves to be, and should be in every library of U.S. WWII collectors.
