The Shield - Complete Second Season (DVD, 2004, 4-Disc Set)

Well, if I had received it I may have been able to review it. Considering I won the item on August 17th and the money was taken out of my account shortly thereafter; I'm guessing I won't receive the item. I doubt that I will make another purchase on ebay.

The Shield...you either love it or like it, but you will never hate it.
I got the first season as a gift from one of my nephews at Christmas.
After watching, I was hooked! The Shield is a cable TV show on the F/X channel.
I originally got cable to follow the OJ trial. Then kept it for about 5 more years. When I quit cable, I figure my cable bills were at about $500 dollars a year for basic cable. I know it's even much more now! I decided to refuse to pay any
more to watch my own TV, especially when the majority of the channels I most watched were just local ones. For the select few cable shows I enjoy, the most economical
way for me to enjoy them, is to buy the entire season DVD set. Like I said, compare that to paying for basic cable on a yearly basis...to watch your own TV. I don't know how long this show will run. I do know these foundation season DVD episodes might be worth slightly more than I originally paid.
In a couple of days or less I'll be getting The Shield-Fourth Season.

A great follow-up to the award-winning first season. Mackey and the Strike Team push the limit and cross the line in turning in one great episode after another. This is the best Cop Drama ever.

One of the best cop shows ever made. Action packed, emotionally charged. Do yourself a favor, buy this set.

Great season, just too short. Only 13 episodes. Lots of action, drama, violence. Sums up alot of unanswered events from season 1, but then leaves alot hanging for season 3.

We all enjoy this show. I would recommend to anyone who likes intense shows. There is just always a lot going on which keeps you enthralled (? sp) with the show. If you like a cop show, this is the tops.

I love this tv series, e-bay and this seller gave me a chance to buy it and watch whenever I want for as long as I want. I am already looking for season 3 and 4.

Awesome acting. Great writing. Perfect storyline in today's society depicting the fine line between right and wrong. You had better be prepared to spend the time glued to you t.v. because it is hard not to watch the next episode and after that it's hard not to slide the next disc in. By the end of the series, you almost feel guilty rooting for Detective Mackey.

This show is so excellent!! The writing and acting is phenomenal! Once you finish an episode, you want to start another one. It is very addicting. I would recommend it highly.

I am a huge fan of The Shield and wanted to watch each episode from the beginning. I finished the first season and enjoy watching the episodes with no commercials. Just an excellent program!

This movie picks up a few months after the end of the last season. I wish they showed a little more of the riots, showing the rest of them along with a little of the immediate recoil then fast foward four months later. If you're a fan of the show, though, you won't be dissapointed. There's plenty of content to keep you rivted saying to yourself "Just one more epdisode..." over and over quickly becoming "Just the end of this disc....okay, just the first episode of the next disc.." and so on.

I personally have no patience for waiting out commercial breaks and the next episode so I prefer watching the DVD's. My only gripe is a lack of extra content, like most of The Shield seasons each episode comes with the commentary, but the featurettes always seem to be missing something.

Overall if you're a fan buy it, buy them all. I would go with a listing selling seasons 1-4 or if you're lucky 1-5 together, you will almost always come out on top cost wise and there's no question of when you'll pick up the next season.

a great followup to the 1st season. see more escapades with vic mackie's strike team. never a dull moment. Michaels CHiklis, C C Pounder and the other actors deliver par excellence performance. you cant go wrong watching this series. the material is adult oriented but the moments are characterizations are very real deal. Kudos to the creators, writers and actors of this show.

I have not had the opportunity to sit down and watch this purchase as of yet, but look forward to it! Thank you for selling this item. I will be looking to buy all of the series'and complete my collection! Thanks again!

We both love the series.. I just started watching the show last season and ever since then I have been hooked.. I wanted to go back to the beginning becasue so much goes on.. I was really satisfied with the purchase and am excited about seeing all of the season.. This is definatley a show that will go down as one of the most well written shows in history..

I am hooked on this show! I love all the great acting. I have seen season one and two. I can not wait to finish watching the rest.

My 31 year old son got me to watching The Shield because he had the first season on DVD. I like it and I don't like it; it is probably more related to real life than most police stories but the part you hope isn't true in real life! I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Good luck!

There is nothing to dislike about THE SHIELD. I've been an avid fan from day 1 and no other show on tv has even come remotely close to the raw power, sheer drama, EXCELLENT writing and EXCELLENT acting on this series. Even the characters that are seemingly bad are the ones you feel for, and the raw emotion shown on every episode will have you counting down the days until next weeks episode, or until you restart the dvd!!! 5 out of 5!!!

The 4 disc follow up to the controversial first season is a must have for all Shield fans, old and new. The second season builds on the troubled relationship between captain David Aceveda and his strike team leader Vic Mackey, a corrupt but effective special unit detective, and the uneasy alliance they form to advance and protect each others careers. The strike team bounces between taking down the worst of drug dealers and stealing from them to pad their own retirement funds. From robbing Armenian drug dealers to smuggling a disgraced former police chief out of the country, viewers will find a guilty pleasure in watching the team get into and out of jams, hoping internal affairs doesn't catch them red handed, something they do on a daily basis. The dialog is well written, as well as having an unexpected comic side, and the acting is top notch compared to other more run of the mill cop shows. The episodes seamlessly bounce from one to the next, leaving viewers eagerly waiting to find out what happens next during the series. The supporting cast is routinely involved in interesting subplots, and the criminals are complex and included more than one would expect. The set includes 13 episodes, as well as deleted scenes, a directors round table, a season 3 preview and a dvd-rom game, but all pale in comparison to the action during the episodes themselves. I would suggest The Shield Season 2 for any fan of good police drama, not just fans of the series.

The Shield is the grandchild of such shows as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue, but unlike those shows, Shawn Ryan the producer and creative force behind The Shield has given us a more real world view of the police and more importantly a vision of ourselves. This is a show where good people do bad things, and where moral ambiguity is the order of the day. That's what makes this great television and one of the best written shows ever on television.

It speaks in what I would refer to as a universal voice, in that it presents us with huge moral questions and doesn't pound us with some sort of moral righteousness. As with all really good writing, this show leaves us asking ourselves what we would do in certain situations, and what we would allow law enforcement to do outside of our own social rules to keep us safe.

The real father of The Shield is Dirty Harry made in 1969 and if you haven't seen it, do so, because it was the first film to show a policeman who could only achieve justice by acting outside the law. Westerns have always used this same technique, but because they were set in lawless frontier they didn't have the same kind of current social impact.

The acting in The Shield is outstanding, as well as the camera work and everything else. In my opinion, along with Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood, and Nip Tuck, it represents the best American Television has to offer, and along with the other shows just mentioned, is the cutting edge i n both entertainment and truly challenging television viewing.

The best television series FX has come out with! The series is very realistic and keeps you wanting more.
