"Strong Enough" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
Sheryl Crow's musical career thus far is not unlike a Cinderella story. From humble beginnings as a ghost writer and as a recording/touring background vocalist for artists from Sting to Michael Jackson, the Kennett, Missouri native now commands the respect of the popular music community. To that end, she enlisted some heavy hitters for her concert held in Central Park.
Sheryl wastes no time capturing the audience in her spell, not letting the day's rain dampen the spirit of the event. The Dixie Chicks bring their vocals and fiddle playing to a countryfied "Strong Enough.," showing just how seamlessly rock and country overlap. "Gold Dust Woman" features the legendary Stevie Nicks. It's fittingly ironic that as a child, Sheryl would listen to Fleetwood Mac and pretend to be part of the band. The old and new schools of female-fronted rock collide as Chrissie Hynde shares the lead vocal chores on a powerful version of "If It Makes You Happy." Surely, the evening's centerpoint is her duet with Eric Clapton on "White Room." Sheryl handles Jack Bruce's vocal parts masterfully. The night's crescendo ending has all her musical guests joining her for Bob Dylan's "Tombstone Blues."

Editorial Reviews
...impresses not only with her own live chops, but also with her talented 'friends'...
CMJ (12/27/1999)

...This lengthy live souvenir has Sheryl in boisterous form, cantering through the familiar hits....[with] some intriguing collaborations....[it] has all the ramshackle enthusiasm of a concert...
Mojo (02/01/2000)

...it's a treat to hear Crow, Chrissie Hynde, and the Dixie Chicks trading verses on Dylan's 'Tombstone Blues,' the best cuts belong to [her] when she's all alone with her band....musically muscular... - Rating: B-
Entertainment Weekly (01/07/2000)

3 stars out of 5 - ...the limber momentum of the songs, no sentiment, strong emotions, the power of small detail at work in the big setting....Such a groove and such deadly reportage....it really does catch Shery Crow close-up, right now and credibily 'au naturel'.

    Pros:
Many of her live versions are better then on CD

    Cons:
Some guests had to sing their own songs

What do you get when you combine nice vocals, great material, and Central Park full of excited fans? Well, there are several answers for this one, but I ll just focus on Sheryl Crow for now. Sheryl Crow may not have the world s best voice, but that doesn t mean it isn t pleasant. Not only that, she can write like nobody s business. Her lyrics mean more to most people because she writes about life, love, and actual feelings. Personally, I think that Sheryl is one of the most important and influential artists of our time. Many might disagree, but to me, it seems as though she writes not only...

    Pros:
    nice renditions, guest artists

    Cons:
    same old songs

I listened to my first sheryl crow song under strange circumstances -- a friend of mine handed me a tape one day , saying 'listen to this b[i]tch, she knows how to rock...', the song was 'all i wanna do...'. I listened to it and i agreed with my friend the b[i]tch did know how to rock [sounds familiar ?? eh ... a kid knows to rock so they call him KidRock -- maybe sheryl should be called B[i]tchRock ??]. Soon this took over all the radio channels and we all knew who Sheryl Crow was..., point made.. Then came out "the globe sessions .." which in my opinion was a very good follow up...then for..

    Pros:
good renditions of some old sheryl crow hits

    Cons:
a couple of bad songs in the album (not sung by sheryl crow though)

i bought this album becuase it was on sale (the cd cover was cracked quite badly) , i had not listened much to sheryl crow before this. that said, after listening to it have gone and bought "the globe sessions" and "tuesday night live" (unfortunately not at sale price !) this has got to be one of the best sheryl crow albums i have listened to , ok its not really her singing ALL of the songs there are other people singing it with her too. why did i every like this album so much ? -- i listened to some of the origianl (non-live) recordings of the songs on this album -- IMHO some of the songs...
