Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp (2003, Paperback)

I loved what this book had to say. Some of it I knew, but needed to be reminded. This book will help you discipline in a manner in which I feel God wants up to discipline our children. We need to deal with the heart of our children and form their hearts to be obedient. When thier heart are obedient, then their actions and behavior with reflect it. Their is scripture to back everything up to help give the parent guidence. I stronly recomend this book for CHRISTIAN PARENTS.

this book is an old favorite of mine. i purchasedfor the first time as a new teacher, hoping to guide my students into a godly direction. it was great and i was able to apply some principles in a public school setting. i passed it on to a friend a few years later; so it's not just for parents.
now i have 2 children, a boy and a girl. i really wanted to start them off on the right track, esp. my 2 year old son, who will one day be the spiritual leader of his own house.
this book reminds us that everything is an heart issue. it's the heart and not necessarily the behavior which needs correcting. i need to be reminded of that when my son is flinging angel hair pasta all over the livingroom.
read this book and pray for your children.
know that i have just prayed for them too.

Easy to understand, Biblically based, and loving. If you're looking to truly impact your child in the ways of the Lord, this is a must read. It takes you beyond your child's behavior and to their heart where the behavior is coming from.

didn't realize this was a study guide and also didn't realize it was for parenting older children. it will be good for later.
