I bought this book to give as a gift after reading it for my own family. Clear and biblical, sound doctrine gets to the root of discipline problems in both parents and children. Mr. Tripp shows how to use every discipline problem as a window to see into your child's soul and to bring you both closer to each other, and more importantly, to God. Since establishing clear and consistent limits and goals our parenting has been more effective, more understanding, and much easier.
Kneeling before a Holy God together with our children has given us all a level of self control, peace, and confidence that we never understood before. Mr. Tripp discusses the need for pointing out our child's need for God, and the use of God's Word as the standard for all of our goals, methods, discipline, and desires.
This is the one of the best books on Christian parenting ever!

I've been looking for the silver bullet of parenting books for some time. Growing up with a non-involved father in terms of training and discipline and an overbearing mother, what model did I have to raise my own children? Shepherding a Child's Heart brings focus to the balance of spanking and just talking with your kids in a timeout. The real issue isn't about getting your kids to do what YOU want for YOUR convenience. It's about addressing the root desires and issues of their heart so that as they grow into mature young men and women, they make good choices and think of others beyond themselves. The world today is full of selfish, immature adults. I certainly don't want to make more of them. A good read whether or not you fully agree with everything in the book.

This book should be on every parent's shelf. It is an outstanding resource for any parent who wants to show Christ to his/her child. It give tremendous insight and the Biblical perspective in raising God honoring children. It will deepen your love for your child and hopefully be a great tool in drawing the heart of your child to the Savior. Excellent book

Ted Tripp writes an excellent, easy to understand parenting book based on the Bible. He addresses root problems and solutions, not just easy fixes or the latest fad in psychology.

Great book! Excellent price. I am currently doing the study with my sunday school class and came across the need for another book. Seeing the price of the book here I couldn't resist buying two and giving them away to friends. Tedd Tripp is an excellent model to follow after in disciplining your children. Although some of his points can differ from personal choice. Tedd Tripp has the experience and the biblical scripture to back his point of view. Leaving you to decide on what you think is best for your child(ren). I would recommend this book to anyone with a newborn to a teenager. He covers every age with each chapter. The DVD series has helped to bring the book into a better perspective because you actually get to see him talk about the points and chapters.

I really cannot offer a review for this item because I never received it, however I have read the book before and I liked it a lot and that was the reason I wanted to purchase it instead of borrowing it from the library. I wanted to be able to highlight things etc. So if I had gotten the book I would have given it an excellent review. So sad that there are members out there just wanting to take advantage of people, makes it hard to trust anyone on e-bay, might as well stay local and do craigslist.com instead.
