An excellent 720P TV - read this for the complete dirt!

This TV is identical (aside from "Aquos" label) to the Sharp "Aquos LC-37D44U". The owner's manual for that one can be read online here: http://www.sharpusa.com/files/tel_man_LC32_37D44U.pdf

This LC37SB24U has exceeded all my expectations! The picture quality is *absolutely excellent*. The high-def content (especially over the air 1080i) looks just awesome!

Standard def 480i content also looks great, however I found that the tuner was unusually slow to "lock in" to analog channels. It has average speed of locking in digital channels, however. So if you don't use analog channels, and go into setup and delete them, it won't make any difference. Importantly, I found the tuner able to lock into weak signals very well.

The remote control has one quirk: it needs to be aimed very near the sensor on the TV, and the sensor needs to be looking close to straight out at the remote for it to work. This is by design, and even explained in the manual. But when I initially opened the box and tried the TV, I didn't know and thought it was broken. It proved to be no problem after getting the TV properly mounted.

Ambiguous specs for this TV are floating on the internet: 6ms or 8ms response time? 1500:1 or 800:1 native CR? Neither the owner's manual (or box) provide the answers, but I find the higher specs believeable based on comparing the TV to other low reaction time, high contrast ratio TVs.

I find motion blur to be on par for modern 60Hz LCD technology (much better than the cheap LCD TVs, only slightly worse than CRT or plasma.) I find the gamut of colors look very vivid, with perfect appearance out of the box (no adjustments necessary.)

There are unadvertised, high-end image processing features available on this model that probably help the picture quality look so good, such as: 3D comb filter, Digital noise reduction, 3:2 Pull-down (to make 24Hz film content look smoother), and others. Many in the menus are not even in the owner's manual!

I found the tuner very good at pulling weak digital and analog channels over the air. This is important for me. I found it on par with competitor's tuners in how fast it locks onto digital channels, also important to me. The only flaw with the tuner is it's slow to lock onto analog channels, however when it does they also look much better than average. With wide variety of digital channels available, about analog tuner performance, especially after going into setup and deleting all the analog channels.

"Sharp OPC" Built-in light sensor can automatically adjust screen brightness based on room ambient lighting - I found this very useful in room with bright natural lighting.

Built-in audio is acceptable, especially after increasing the bass equalizer setting. It has useful sound adjustments: EQ (bass/treble adjust), surround sound "enhancement" (which I am not using), and bass boost on/off - which I left on default "on" position.) 5.1 fiber-optic audio out allows future audio system expansion.

There is a plethora of useful, rear-mounted inputs: 2x HDMI and 2x component, 1x PC-in and 1x s-video, and the composite RCA in.

The TV has a very slim and elegant looking, black bezel around the edges and looks great. The mounting stand is very sturdy with lots of steel and studry screws under the plastic cover.

The TV is wall mountable with a VESA 200 mounting pattern (200mm x 200mm).

On summary, I am really thrilled with this TV and highly recommend it!
