Synopsis Mother Rabbit learns that a furious blizzard is rolling in just in time for Christmas Eve, and knits a hat for Little Rabbit that covers his long ears and protects them from the cold. They decide that similar hats for the other animals would make ideal Christmas gifts, especially under the snowy circumstances. They secretly take the necessary measurements, then Mother Rabbit creates some startlingly imaginative headgear to suit the dimensions and dispositions of each animal. The recipients look incredulous as they model the outlandish creations on Christmas Day, but their astonishment quickly turns into gratitude when the predicted storm hits. Extremely detailed acrylic paintings accompany the text.
When Mother Rabbit knits a warm winter hat for Little Rabbit, he likes it so much that he suggests they make hats for all of their friends as Christmas gifts.
