PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND had a huge impact on the music world, signaling the beginning of a new era of sophistication and maturity in rock. The musical experimentation was dynamic and fresh, several tracks were edited to create seamless transitions, and even the visual design was more elaborate than anything previously attempted. Producer George Martin and The Beatles searched for new sounds and studio effects. They added crowd sounds and animal cries from sound-effects recordings, sped up Paul McCartney's vocals in "When I'm Sixty-Four" (to make him sound younger), and sustained a single piano chord for 40 seconds to end "A Day In The Life." The orchestrations, scored by Martin, were hailed by critics as bridging the gap between pop and classical music, and many people who had never bought a rock record bought SGT. PEPPER'S. Report this review The quality of the music on this CD is crystal clear, yet it still has the show and feelings of the original vinyl album playing. Use a great set of headphones to get the true feeling of the poetry that is being expressed by some of the greatest artist minds in music history. Being able to listen to this CD over & over without the worry of scratching my original vinyl album is a weight off my mind. If I was given the choice of only being allowed one album to take with me to a desert island it would be this one. The quality is excellent, and the insert covers over 2 dozen pages of the Beatles history and lyrics. I say to the members of this great band JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE & RINGO - thank you for taking my mind to places which usually can not be found. And we will miss you, you will not be forgotten.
