I own four lingerie-making books and this one is my favorite. It contains a wealth of information on the all-important area of FITTING. It's different from other lingerie books in that it includes a broader range of clothing, not just sleepwear and intimate apparel but also loungewear that is much like daywear. . . it's an innovative book that offers some novel ideas.
The bra making and fitting section is very detailed and useful. I think this book is going to be my #1 reference for bra-making. AWESOME fitting tips!
This book is really PACKED with great ideas. I would recommend this as your ONE lingerie-making book if you can only get one at this time! It does not include any patterns but does include tips for altering patterns for specific fitting issues. Also it has some information on making patterns from existing garments.
Other tips are included as well. For example, a lovely lavender-colored bra and panty set was pictured and it was mentioned that the set was constructed in white fabric. The color was achieved thru a "quick dye bath in the washing machine." Instructions for that process were provided. This is very handy b/c it can be difficult to find elastics, trim, etc., all in your desired color. Just buy everything in white and dye it!
I also like the Singer reference (Sewing Lingerie). It has beautiful pictures and great detail on lace and trim application; lots of information on applying the finishes that will make your garments unique and special. I'd recommend that one as a supplement to the Karen Morris book. If you're interested in bra-making, tho, the Singer book is somewhat lacking in that area.
