I have a collection of books by Ms Hinds. Because clothing for the 18"American Girl dolls is so expensive, I choose to sew these items for my grand-daughters' dolls. I was pleased to find a new pattern book for more current clothing designs. The patterns included with the book and the easy to understand, photo enhanced instructions make this book a fun and easy way to sew beautiful clothing for the popular 18" dolls. I look forward to any future books from this author.

For those who are crafty and able to sew and want to save some $ and be creative at the same time, this book is a must. There are many, many examples of clothes to make plus included are the patterns (even patterns to make shoes). American Girl Dolls are costly not to mention all the clothes to go along with them--so be creative and make a little girl very happy with a whole wardrobe of clothes! And to make a little girl even happier, make her an outfit to match her doll's. All patterns are easy to read and include a basic wardrobe so it would be very easy to pick up a basic pattern for matching girl's clothes. I will be busy between now and Christmas!

Grat manual for sewing doll clothes
) This is a great instruction manual for sewing clothing for 18" American Girl-type dolls. Full-scale patterns are included for each article of clothing. Directions are very clear, but some basic sewing knowledge is useful. This is the second Joan Hinds doll clothing book I've purchased. In both books, Hinds' designs are contemporary--much preferred by my 9-year-old daughter/doll owner than the old-fashioned, fussy, ruffled, pleated outfits often featured in other books and patterns. These small outfits use very little fabric and sew up very quickly. This is a very economical way to clothe your daughter's, granddaughter's, niece's, etc., doll in style. And you can continue to reuse the patterns using different fabrics and notions to create your own original fashions.
