For his second turn at bat, ex-Weezer Matt Sharp swings and knocks one out of the park. Popping you upside the head with one great song after another, The Rentals defy the phenomenon known as "the sophomore slump" and score big with SEVEN MORE MINUTES. Looking resplendent in his shaggy hair and polka-dot shirt (out with the turbo-geek, in with the retro-chic) and fresh from his bacchanal in Barcelona, Sharp keeps a party-like vibe going throughout much of the disc. Some of the players on The Rentals team this season include Damon Alborn from Blur, Tim Wheeler from Ash, and once again, Petra Haden from THAT DOG is adding her wonderful vocals. The nerd shtick is gone, but in its place are infectious songs and flat-out fun.
