Seven Brides For Seven Brothers FUN Musical DVD
This lively singing & dancing musical was first released in 1954. My daughters now 19 & 30 loved it when they were young.
I just purchased a DVD copy on Ebay for a Christmas gift for 2 young girls. I may even buy another for my daughter for Christmas!
This is the story of a rough & tough frontiersman that goes to town to bring himself home a wife.
Main characters Adam & Milly are played by Howard Keel and Jane Powell. Upon returning to the cabin home of Adam,
Milly finds that he has 6 brothers tha need some taken care of.
Each of the brothers is named after a character in the Bible.
The brothers have no manners, no personal hygiene, no social graces, nothing that is going to gain them a wife.
Milly sets out to make them "eligible bachelors", to teach them manners & help them find wives of their own.
The musical is filled with fun & boisterous song & dance numbers. Some of the songs include,
"Bless Your Beautiful Hide", "Wonderful, Wonderful Day", & Goin' Co'tin'".
The most lively number is probably the barn raising number.
The brothers here are competing for the local town girls against the more refined men of town.
This is an energetic & fun movie, that is appropriate for all ages.
No need to worry about offensive language, nudity or some of the issues you will find in more contemporary films. A classic in my book.
The movie was nominated for in 1955 for an Oscar for Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing
,Best Writing, & Best Screenplay. It won oscars for Best Music & Best Scoring of a Musical Picture. Great fun for the family,

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is one of the few musicals that I can never grow tired of, though I could recite it in my sleep, sing every song on beat, and do a rough version of 3 of it's dances to save my life.
This is one of our country's greatest musicals: The story is so... "musical". The dances are a testament for the time (when basic tap was being replaced by a Gene Kelly-induced ballet form), and the songs will stick in your head for years.
Howard Keel is at his mustached best, and Jane Powell is beautiful and convincing, (sporting perhaps the tiniest waist since Scarlet O'Hara).
Some of the brothers are singers, others are dancers, and Russ Tamblin is most definitely an actor! But all parts are played perfectly under the direction of Stanley Donan, and this movie is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

I really liked this movie. I caught glipses of it on television and thought I want this movie. The extra features a nice. It's a family friendly movie. WHich is a nice change. The color is spectacular. Very well done movie. Great for anyone who likes musicals. Also, men will like it because the men in the movie are trappers and are funny. Highly recommend you get it.

Best movie in the world!!!!! The singing, the dancing, the actors and actresses - what a perfect cast. WHAT A PERFECT MOVIE!!!!
The plot is great: Love, Adventureous, Moral. Fun for the entire family.
Even though some of the background is obviously painted and photographed editorially, this team of actors make up for it in their performance. I highly recommend this movie; No other musical film has come to it's high standard of caliber and its' 2008.

Fantastic, classic musical
) This is such a great musical. It is upbeat from the very beginning. The songs are easy to sing along to and the dancing is fantastic. Highly recommended for a great G-rated family film. I liked it so much that I bought the soundtrack!

An all over feel-good movie. I love the interaction between the brothers and their new sister-in-law-you think she'll be overwhelmed when confronted with her new husband's seven brothers all living in the same house as her and her new husband. Add to the mix the insurmountable task of cooking and cleaning for this brood which would send most anyone running-she just rolls up her sleeves and meets the challenge head-on, and that includes the stubborn unthoughtful actions of her husband. A couple of the songs can seem alittle long, but most move right along and don't seem to bog the movie down. A must see-even for those that are not too fond of musicals!

Fantastic MusicalI remember watching this movie with my mom while growing up. It became a very popular movie in our household as i and my younger brothers all came to love this movie. I love the singing and the dancing scene at the picnic is fabulous. I've always loved musicals and although i like some of the ones that have just been made, they really don't make them like they used too! I bought this movie because i love it and it will always remind me of spending time with my mom watching it.

After checking it out so many times at our library, we figured we just needed to buy our own copy. It is a great story, lots of laughs! ! Our children walk around the house singing the songs. It is great for family fun time together. We love watching our 7 year old boy sing the songs. Well, worth more than we paid for the copy!

I just watched this movie with my children 12, 10, and 9 and they loved it! The humor is good and clean. A movie for the whole family.

My brother has been walking around singing the songs from this movie for years and I decided to get him the DVD for Christmas. He was so excited he jumped up and down, he is eighteen years old. I had never seen it, so we put it in right away!! It was pretty good if you like musical western movies!! I enjoyed it very much!!

SEVEN BRIDES for SEVEN BROTHERS..... As a child I remember seeing this movie on TMC as an adult I bought a copy, my children and I watched it and my granddaughter and I watched it until... the VCR tape broke. I looked every where and finally found a copy by accident at a pawn shop, I bought it we watched it till it wore out then.... it broke also. By this time my granddaughter who is two really enjoied the songs and dances in the movie she loves the characters and even named her favorite doll "Millie" she would cry I want to watch "SOBBIN WOMEN", whe'll that lead me on another hunt for another copy with no luck. My daughter suggested E-BAY. It was so easy I just typed in the title and there it was,by the end of my first day on e-bay I had three copies of SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS.I think everyone should view this movie at least once it's a truely wonderful musical type movie that allows you to open your mind and travel to a mountain setting full of fun, laughs and love, along with a spunky stubborn Jane Powell who plays "Millie" and a rough looking mountain man, Howard Keel who plays "Adam" Millie looks for love and finds a family of brothers in need of a good scrubbin and a whole lot of manners, in order to find wives of their own. This movie is full of music , dancing, lots of funny lines and laughs that come out loud. Thank you e-bay for making it so easy to get this movie back in my collection I look forward to adding others and shoppping e-bay for all my hard to find items

Great story; great movie! I grew up watching musicals and this is one of the best. Howard Keel had an amazing voice as did Jane Powell. This is a great family movie...they don't make 'em like this anymore unfortunately. Enjoy!
