Sesame Street - Big Bird in China (DVD, 2004)

The item I bid on and won was never shipped to me. However, we have borrowed a copy of this movie from our public library and my 4 year old just loves is. Now mind you she is Asian, so she kind of relates to the little girl in the movie but I think it was wonderfully done and in good taste. A wonderful representation of the Chinese culture and tradition.

I bought this dvd because we are beginning Chinese language for our homeschooled son (kindergarten). He is 4 and he loves it - so does our 2 year old son. Thier favorite part is the Monkey King...
I like this dvd because of the gentle intro to Chinese and because, like every other Sesame Street movie or show, it's just good fun.
The only thing I didn't like about it was that the movie looked/sounded kind of "dated" even though the date on it is 2004. I guess since S-Street is non-profit, I should't expect it to be in surround sound or in HiDef :)
It's 75 min long and that is pretty long for little ones, but it's engaging enough to keep thier attention. Sometimes we just skip parts to suit our needs.
All in all, I'm happy with this dvd and I'm especially glad I bought it from ebay for 1/4th the price of retail. Hope this helps!

Big Bird is so fun to learn about other cultures with, he makes it easy for young kids to understand that there are differences all over the world. It is also good for adults to learn how to teach childern about all the differences

MY GIRLS LOVE THIS MOVIE.. THEY ARE ADOPTED FROM CHINA. SO TO SEE BIG BIRD THERE WAS GREAT. MY DAUGHTER TOOK IT TO SCHOOL AND HER FIRST GRADE CLASS LOVE IT. THE TEACHER EVEN WANTED ONE TO SHOW THE MONTH THEY STUDIED CHINA. IT A WONDER MOVIE FOR KIDS ALL AGES. IM 43 AND HAVE WATCHED IT 5 TIMES LOL.. BUT YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU GOT THIS MOVIE FOR YOUR KIDS.

I bought this DVD for my kids to enjoy. I remember watching this movie when I was a child. I loved it now just as I loved it then! I'm so glad that it was available on DVD.

My five year old granddaughters love this dvd. They have been learning about China, and even have learned to speak some Chinese words and phrases. This dvd helps them to understand some Chinese culture, and they can see what the country looks like. As with all Sesame Street themed items, it is high quality and an excellent learning tool for kids.

Very cute movie about Big Bird and his adventures in China. It says you learn words but really you only learn three so it's not that educational that way. But you learn a lot about China and see some beautiful places on it. Great for kids and quite entertaining.

Thisis a really cute movie for young children. It is great to expose children to real footage of places in China and a little about the culture in a fun way. There is songs, dancing, music, talking, and writing all in Chinese.
My Three year old class loves it every time!

This film is educational and fun. You get to explore a lot of China with Big Bird and his friends. The film is from the 80"s, but it doesn't interfere with the educational aspect of it. I recommednd viewing and owning the film.

A fantastic opportunity to expose young children to the culture and beauty of China. I used it as a teaching tool to show my little boy where China is on a map, and to connect him to China in the news. Big Bird is an excellent ambassador!

Big Bird in China is one of the must have DVDs in the CTW library.

Big Bird goes to China to find the mythical Phoenix Bird, and with the help of Xio-fu and some story tellers he does just that.

I have had this on VHS for a long time and it is one of my son's favorite. But let's face it -- VHS is going away and I did not want to miss the chance of getting this on DVD.

The seller had great ratings and the DVD was priced to sell.

It was a terrific transaction all the way around.
And for anyone who has not seen this DVD, I encourage you to get a copy of it.

The songs, the sights and the sound will keep even the most jaded Sesame Street fan involved.
