Serpico

This movie ranks among Al Pachino's greatest film roles (The Recruit,
Ocean's 13, The Insider, The Devil's Advocate, etc). The movie is
based on the real-life story of New York City undercover cop Frank
Serpico who is an honest cop who refused to take part in the corruption
forced upon him by his peers and was grievously wounded because of it.
Serpico is at once an indictment of the corruption and a shining
testament to one mans effort to reform the NYPD. The movie is directed
by Sidney Lumet (The Verdict, Deathtrap, Network, Dog Day Afternoon, etc)
who adds perhaps his best touch at directing in this movie. The movie
was an Acadamy Awards nominee in 1973 and is certainly in the classic
movie ranks now. This movie will also appeal to suspense and drama movie
devotees as the plot unfolds-with the understanding that it is based on
a true story. A great movie that will give most people a good evening's
entertainment.
