Again, a great and powerful movie! Have seen parts of the movie on TV but never in its entirety - so wanted to have my own copy of the movie.

The ultimate pacifist warrior - Alvin York

Film star Gary Cooper got it right! Based on the true story of Alvin York - THE American hero of WWI. "Sergeant York" has the right "air" to it which almost makes you believe that you're standing alongside Alvin York. Remember that this is an old film that has been converted to a VHS format - it can't be compared to the modern movies. An advanced dolby sound system or flat-screen TV is of little use but it doesn't hurt either since neither system was invented until more than 1/2 century after this film was made. This is one war film that school-age children should see and discuss. It absolutely belongs in the collection of a historian or militaria collector and, in my opinion, one which every American should see. Absolutely outstanding! This review is written while the seller is unknown and does not reflect that information.

It was nice to see a true American Hero and the respect he earned from his countrymen. We still have heros but our public does not appreciate or even know about most of them.
